  1. QUOTE (BLaZor @ Oct 5 2009, 01:50 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Don't know about you, but I do notice a slight difference between 120 frames per second on 60Hz versus 120Hz. It is important to remember that the framerate matters less when your bottlenecked by the frequency of output your monitor is capable of. CRTs would be better because of how they work, and most (if not all) LCDs are limited to 60Hz. Lately in the news (places like Slashdot, HardOCP, and Digg) they have developed 120Hz support for LCDs, but this is easy to mistake, because it is only the sockets that support that kind of bandwidth. The actual output of 120Hz is not yet supported. As for those 120Hz LCD TVs and stuff, they work differently. TV != Monitor. If you want to check it out, your best bet in experimenting would be finding a CRT monitor and trying out a 120fps Average benchmark at 60Hz and then 120Hz (make sure your CRT supports it natively). Anyway, this is my opinion. If you disagree, go ahead. I don't care. EDIT :: Also, the human eye doesn't necessarily see in "frames per second." It's one of those things in science that aren't fully known (as if anything was ever fully known anyway).
  2. QUOTE (PermaGrin @ Oct 5 2009, 09:47 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I think this is a really cool idea. I'm curious to see how it would add/remove to the gameplay! It would definitely add another obstacle (feature that can be taken away by other team by brute force).
  3. I would prefer that server administrators have the option to customize what the radar shows and doesn't show, just like in C&C Renegade. Then everyone wins, as Michael Scott from The Office says: win-win-WIN! I really like being able to sneak around. It adds the element of surprise. "Professional" servers may choose to have the radar show everyone, simply because that is what a radar in a literal sense is for. But I think this only applies in a literal sense. Reality != virtuality (computers/gaming/Internet). Because of this, I think having the radar only show teammates works out better in a computer game than to realistically show everything. But again, I'd personally prefer the ability (as a server option) to customize what can and can't be seen. As far as the FOV targeting system goes, I would like the option (from server admin point of view) to be able to customize it with the same flexibility is the radar. I'm more nostalgic and would personally prefer having the FOV targeting system off, because in real life you don't see that and it adds more element of surprise and requires the player to pay more attention to the environment.
  4. Hello! I don't have any experience or knowledge as to where I would have to start in setting up and installing a dedicated server for Renegade-X. Some basic question: Where do I get the Dedicated Server files? Thanks! Help is very much appreciated.
  5. I think it would be bad to have a date in the title of the game or mod. Just imagine people talking about it years down the road -- "Hey, want to play some Renegade 2002?" It'll give the mod an ancient and outdated feeling and/or impression. 1. Unreal Renegade 2. Renegade Counter-Attack 3. Renegade Refinished 4. Renegade Revival 5. Renegade Reconquered Unfortunately I don't agree with "Unreal" being in the title, no matter how logical or formal it seems. I think I stole my second suggestion partially from a Red Alert expansion pack. I don't agree with my last 3 suggestions either, as they seem too redundant, too long, or overused, unfitting. If there's nothing left to pick or decide on, I think Unreal Renegade would be the better choice out of any. Think of something that is NOT Renegade. What do you think Westwood would say or suggest?
