  1. Oh yeah. Before I forget.

    Dear Renegade-X team.

When you release the first version of this mod, you will for sure get all kinds of complains about the game, balance, bugs and whatnot. So don't get offended by that shit and don't stop developing this mod. ;)

Just to warn and note you about the shit storms which may be heading towards you. =P

(But I hope everything will go just fine with this mod. :) )

  2. Because the way bots read the picture. True, ascii captcha may get cracked in a year or two but at least currently it is totally fool proof because bots read the individual ascii marks as letters and those don't see the big picture which forms from those smaller ones. Humans can understand that ascii mark isn't a letter and they can also see the forms which are formed from those ascii marks.

3D captcha is even harder because bots read the lines from the picture in vertical and horizontal rows and then try to see what matches with normal font.

In 3D captcha the image is formed from very few lines but it still is recognizable by human because humans won't see the lines as lines but they see it as bumped up hills which form letters.

Google 3D captcha to find more about it. Same goes with Ascii captcha.

Also spambots don't understand what they read.

They can't handle questions or sentences, they just write down what they read but they have no idea what is said in there. Thus if there are for example couple of random questions which change everytime the spam bots have no chance at all typing the correct answer. For example. I can copy egyptian hieroglyfs with ease but I have no idea what those say. This same situation happens with spambots.

  3. I think XSI Mod tool is free and quite easy to use. Blender is free too but when I tried it, it was just way too weird to get used to but it is told to be powerful modelling tool...

And I use PhotoFiltre as my basic image editing program. Nothing that fancy, more like extended and boosted up paint but it's good for basic things. I guess it could work for basic texturing too but at least it would require more work. (Ps. Later version of PhotoFiltre aren't free anymore.)

  4. Or you could use 3D captcha or ASCII captcha. ASCII captcha is letters made out of ASCII symbols. Currently bots can't read this.

It's very clean and clear captcha and no bots can read it. After it fails, just add question like how much is x+y?

    Or change to 3D captcha.

  5. By UI do you mean HUD?

If you mean HUD you could try Nesquiko's (aka Daruck's) custom HUD. It's semi-transparent, a bit more simplified and stylished but it's too black and white for my liking.

  6. Now that we are talking about the outline thing, yeah I have to agree that I would like to see at least an option to turn it off.

I like the outline setting in Hostile Waters where it draws the lines based on the big polygon clusters so it is 3D highlight "outline." But it wasn't that visible.

Or maybe a slider for it so you could turn it off (transparent) or fully solid, meaning that it has 0 transparency.

I'm not used to see that kind of outlines all the time.

Edit: And whoever is talking on the Podcast, could you PLEASE move your mic next to your nose or below your mouth. :P It's annoying to listen to the podcast when there's constant stream of blows and very jumpy volume of your voice. Makes it hard and annoying to listen to it. :P

Well, here's hoping it comes out soon.

Let's see, that makes my wait list NS2, RenegadeX, and .... for the Empires devs to stop being stupid with their UI design.[/b]

Nah... Don't expect much from Empires.

If the mod stays as it is with average balance, you should be thankful.

If the mod gets a new release which makes it more shit, you should be still thankful because it's a sign that devs actually are still working on the mod.

If the mod gets a new release which actually is good release, that is just pure randomness and won't happen again.

So yeah, basically Empires development has slowed down to almost a halt and all the updates are more or less bad, usually. So don't expect any big updates from the devs, expect maybe aircrafts and scout rifle to scout shotgun update...
  8. Wheee. ^^ Maybe I'll download it and build my mech of close range destruction once more.

Daishi with... was it 6 auto shotguns. Here I come... 1z3uydc.png

Every direct hit means you are dead and if you're not dead on the first shot, you're dead on the second shot for sure. 1z3uydc.png

  9. I'm just going to say that EA is a master of recycling (game ideas).

Same stuff fubared over and over again and the end result is same. How much we have moved away from C&C Generals till this C&C 4?

I only see new graphics and fancy looking models. All the rest is basically more or less the same.

    Recycled I say. :[

    Edit:

While watching the video from here: http://www.gamespot.com/pc/strategy/comman...%3B1&page=2

I realized something... EA would make SO MUCH MORE MONEY making MOVIES based on their game ideas. Fully computer animated movies with real actors and all that shit. They really know how to make awesome looking war scenes and video clips and I think they really should stop making recycled games and just turn every C&C game which they have made into a movie.

NOW THAT would be a VERY ORIGINAL IDEA FOR A MOVIE SERIES and I think the movies would look awesome too.

Very fresh ideas, fresh point of view, fresh storyline and fresh everything for a movie series or movies in general.

    Edit II:

Look at the video here: http://www.commandandconquer.com/cnc4/index.html

At 0:46 you can see the "new tank." I can clearly tell that's just recycled chassis of the mammoth tank from the C&C 3 Tiberium Wars. I has been just slightly modified and turret has been replaced...

RECYCLING. That's why I hate EA.

Actually, Renegade's gameplay is quite faster than most other popular FPS games, such as the Battlefield series, Call of Duty series, Ghost Recon series, and even the Halo series. It's one of the only games where movement needs to be continual with run and gun action, while other FPS games emphasize duck, cover, prone, and capturing control points. There are also immediate spawn times, and not much time is spent reloading, finding ammo, or waiting for guns to charge. The movement itself might not be "fast", but many aspects of the game make it faster paced than many others.[/b]

Reminds of Empires a bit. ^^

Though I hope this game won't be too fast phased so it won't be fun because modern world revolves enough fast around you all the time. :(
  11. Empires + Commander = works (even though usually people don't prefer the commanding because it isn't as much fun as running on the field.)

Empires - Commander = No overall view of the battlefield thus it is harder to coordinate things. And in strategy games there has to be the final one who makes the decission and to prevent arguments on critical moments.

So I would imaginate that Renegade-X needs the one final person too as commander who makes final decissions on things and orders.

  12. I agree that the HUD could use a few more colors. Not many more though. Like, different colors for text and numbers and amount bars.

Also I would like to see less fuzzyness in it. When I looked at that 1040x804 picture, the HUD seemed to be overly fuzzy compared to the playing area scene.

I think this could be fixed with adding black/grey edges to all important texts, numbers and what not you'll need to see. And when I took a look to the first gray scale of Mighty Bob's hud picture and I didn't look at the very first picture, I didn't even find the hud at first. I only saw the radar there and I was all like: "That's it?"

I have to agree with others, it needs work so it doesn't blend so well with the playing area.

    Otherwise it's very nice. :)
