  1. SBH and nukes are easily countered if you have a few players dedicated to defending the base. Especially on maps without base defenses this is a basic must. If everyone is out attacking the Nod base then you will find yourself nuked to shit.

The second you have enough credits you mine up the base, all entrances and more importantly all ramps leading to roofs. WF especially. If you have a small strikeforce to comb the base for beacons (and have a team that actively uses the chat to tell you when they found one) it shouldn't pose a problem.

  2. Two things really.

    1. When setting the chat and teamchat buttons to 'enter' and 'backspace' like it was in the original Renegade, the 'say all' chat doesn't work. Hitting enter causes the input box to open and close instantly. Backspace does work.

    2. When in game there is no way to get to the options menu.

  3. Airstrikes are amazing at breaking an enemy camp just firing at building with no hope of destroying them (farming points, basically). The airstrike kills most infantry and engies supporting the camp, after which it should be easily mopped up by the defending team.

  4. When a building comes under siege and the engies are repairing it the 'repaired' announcement is repeated over and over and over and over again until it drives everyone nuts. Maybe put some limit on how often it can be broadcasted. Same for any other announcements that are repeated too often.

  5. Disabling engineers completely is a little too much. It would leave the defending team without any form of defense basically.

If you want to go down the Con Yard path, maybe make it a lot harder to destroy and always keep the basic engineer available.

Alternatively you could look at introducing a whole (sub) gamemode all together not unlike the Titan mode in BF2142 or the Tech Plants in Planetside 2. Having to destroy/unlock multiple doors before being able to access the MCT and destroy it. With the Con Yard being extremely resiliant from attack from the outside.

  6. Will the server files be released to server owners before the game is released?

    Definitely.

As a follow up question, how does one apply to be a server owner? Will server files be publicly available from the site or is there some sort of application process? Also what platform will server files be available for? Windows, Linux?

  7. The original maps aren't remade because they are too small scale and simple for that Totem Arts has planned. Will some of these maps return but on a far larger and recreated scale?

Also, will Totem Arts keep in mind that one of the charms that Renegade had, might have been the straightforward maps with simple layout?

    Your sincerely,

    Demigan.

That's a good point. I don't really like the idea of having to drive my tank for miles before I reach the enemy base or something. Renegade always had a pretty simple map layout.

GDI Base --- Main Battlefield --- Nod Base

I hope that formula stays in.

  8. Just installed Renegade X again, but when I started it there didn't seem to be any servers. Is this right? And if so, are there certain days/times when servers are running?

  9. Please install something or set it in such a way that new members can't send PM's until they have like 10 posts or something, that should take care of the problem. That or manually approve all registrations.

  10. It's either in the general options > Force guests to log in or something to that accord.

Or it's in permissions/masks, where guests have no permission to view the forum.

Either way, it's got to go. People need to be able to see this forum without logging in.

  11. Me and a friend have on more than one occasion completely wrecked the GDI base with just 2 flamers, and both of them made it to the AGT. A few days ago we even raped GDI so hard that we killed every single building BUT the AGT and us and the rest of the Nod team started to rape GDI for the next 45 minutes, constantly getting APC's and driving PAST the AGT, behind the WF and killing everything we could see. It was funny as hell but proves how unbalanced the GDI base is on Hourglass.

The balance of that map needs to be seriously looked at. Renegade had many bugs and flaws, Hourglass is one big flaw in so many ways and it needs to be balanced in this mod where Renegade left off.

Now, I'm not saying to make it easy for GDI to get to the Obelisk, I'm just asking to make it more accessible. As of right now, it's a very limited feeling when playing as GDI when you feel as if you could be doing so much more but you are forced into a position were you need to use the MRLS if you want to attack.[/b]

My exact feelings of the map right now. MRLS is the only real way GDI can attack at the moment, which is not how it should be.

The map's so bias in their favor that there is no fun playing on Nod because you know you're going to win.[/b]

If you call having most points on Hourglass winning...

I enjoy Hourglass most when I'm playing on a marathon server. It forces one of the teams to win by destroying the base, which is a lot harder than just standing on a hill. In fact, I've whooped Nod's ass in every marathon Hourglass match I've played so far.
