pawkyfox Posted August 15, 2008 Posted August 15, 2008 HI! I never played UT3 but do we see birds and such in UT3 in-game? Reason I am asking is that I am wondering if birds can be added in certain maps. In Walls_Flying, if you walk to the side near the giant cliff, you will hear vultures screaming... I like how you remade Under: with so much jagged icy rocks and such...so when you do the same for Walls_Flying, can you also add a few vultures flying here and there? If it's not possible, then please don't forget the sounds atleast... -pawky Quote
Totem Arts Staff [NE]Fobby[GEN] Posted August 15, 2008 Totem Arts Staff Posted August 15, 2008 Im not sure if we'll be making actual wildlife, but we will for sure have ambience sounds of the birds and stuff. Quote

Jngdwe Posted August 20, 2008 Posted August 20, 2008 While on topic of the jaggedy rocks in under, is it possible that later you could implement some "Original" style remakes of the maps, like completely look alikes of the original maps, but higher poly and with better texturing? Some people might prefer it to the new gameplay that a buncha the new changes and improvements might implement. Quote

I really don't have a problem with that though I still am a bit grudgy about Hourglass and blue skies (my fav map - sorry Fobby!   )But the remakes are very good with new features. I see it this way: a mod as HUGE as Ren X does not deserve to simply remake high polygon versions of the W3D maps. We need a COMPLETE overhaul and that is what the team is doing so I am fine with that.Even then, I am sure perfect remakes will be made; if not by the team, then by someone else.-pawky Quote

We haven't changed gameplay features in the maps themselves, and even in terms of the 'looks', Complex, Field, and Under are pretty much identical remakes with better textures. I think the only map that looks somewhat different would be Hourglass, because the original Hourglass was simply just plain dirt and rocks with no creativity. Quote

Spycon_Fighter Posted August 20, 2008 Posted August 20, 2008 Field is my fav map that is completed right now, however under is lookin pretty sweet Quote

Totem Arts Staff [NE]Fobby[GEN] Posted August 21, 2008 Totem Arts Staff Posted August 21, 2008 It's definitely icier and snowier, but originally it was also quite snowy. All I'm saying is it's not like we changed the map upside down and made it into a forest map Quote
epicelite Posted August 21, 2008 Posted August 21, 2008 Make a special edition "C&C_under_summertime" map. =P Quote
Combine 108 Posted August 22, 2008 Posted August 22, 2008 or maybe we could make server-side options to change the weather, seeing how many server-side options you guys already have planned... That one C&C server allowed weather changing (Kaimux C&C, or something like that) Quote

Pendullum Posted August 22, 2008 Posted August 22, 2008 Don'y worry about ambiences in the maps, we're going to be taking very special care to make the maps very immersive, both visually and via audio ^^ Quote
Totem Arts Staff [NE]Fobby[GEN] Posted August 22, 2008 Totem Arts Staff Posted August 22, 2008 Yeah like Havoc and I did some great ambience audio in Field, with the river, waterfall, crickets and other insects, it actually sounds scary when you're standing there alone  Quote
Shark Posted August 22, 2008 Posted August 22, 2008 Thank you guys. That's very impressive. If you could capture the "mood" of the map, like what Fobby says on Field, then it would be a job well done. Quote
scensorECHO Posted August 22, 2008 Posted August 22, 2008 I second that. Improve the maps, don't do anything too out of line. How you're doing is amazing, I don't see why people feel the need to ask for more and more and more. It's going great and this is exactly what they said they'd give. Keep up the good work Quote
R315r4z0r Posted August 22, 2008 Posted August 22, 2008 So you're saying that on a hot day, I can boot up this mod, load under and stand there in the middle of the snow and ice and actually start to feel cool? Quote

TeamWolf Posted August 23, 2008 Posted August 23, 2008 I love the idea of birds just flying over, will add a great feel to the game. Quote
