Anyone know how to stop the console coming up when I push ' ? 

I can't type can't, we're, you're, the're... people will think I'm stupid!

Obviously the game is trying to teach you not to use those lazy contractions...

What keyboard layout do you use? Maybe I can test this for myself.

I managed to completely disable the console at some point, however not sure if this is applicable per user. Will test tomorrow (in about 18 hours after this post) unless somebody comes up with another solution in the meantime to just rebind the console key to another key.

I have the same issue tbh, but I generally avoid using apostrophes in chat where possible.

Actually on second thought, my first approach does not seem possible.

The correct approach would more likely be to open your RenegadeX folder, and then edit the file "UDKInput.ini" inside of "UDKGame\Config", Search in the file for "Tilde", replace the tilde in "ConsoleKey=Tilde" with F6.
