Future Ren-X versions should NOT use shell map in main menu

I found that frustrating even on a low-end card (i.e. Geforce 220) to load the menu. But in a high-end card like Geforce 550 Ti, it still struggles to load. I wish the main menu is just an animated Ren-X logo instead of a shell map with water and other stuff enabled, not unlike what all Unreal Tournament games have. Because of the recent Beta 4 changes, gaming performance is starting to get really aggressive.... and lagging.

Anyone tend to agree to this? The main menu shell map takes too long to load and even after changing the graphic settings, it still tends to load and pause for some time.

Try using the ingame console to exit straight to the desktop.

@Cronus, lower you gfx settings, like AA an textures. If it doesn't do anything maybe it's time to upgrade. Both mentioned gfx cards are old and would be degraded over time.

The menu should be much less demanding in Beta 4 though compared to Beta 3. And if youre struggling with fps also make sure to keep "static decals" off. Its of by defauly on all modes not except very high and ultra. And thats for good reasons. It sounds like something not demanding but actually it is one of the most demanding graphic options. For the most part disabling it will disable tank thread trails on the maps. Wich imho arent that important so its a good idea to turn that option off if you are struggling with fps.

UE3 menus like the one in RenX are known to kill cards if you leave them running for any length of time (even less than an hour). Cards try to max out fps on the menu and burn themselves out, even if you have good cooling. I have to keep smoothing on in ue3 games that use these menus to prevent it...

Thats not true.

It doesn't do that with Renegade X, for starters.

More importantly, if your card overheats at full load, your cooling is NOT adequate.
