Wanna play? - Solution for the empty server problem

Hey all,

the problem is that noone wants to be on an empty server - yes

So my suggestion for a solution is to gather up in an IRC channel, so that the client does not have to beloaded (and blocking any other activity) and join the Gameserver when enough players are around.

Once this happens often enough the IRC channel might get obsolete when the Server is filled anyways, but until then i think this is the best solution.

How its gonna work:

- Join the IRC Channel #renegade-x on Quakenet using an IRC client of your choice or one of the IRC webclients like thisone: http://en.irc2go.com/webchat/?net=QuakeNet

- Communicate by changing your nickname with a status

Example: Lets say my nick is Dave

if i want to play and waiting for players i change my nick to /nick waiting^Dave

if i am ingame i use ingame^Dave

In other times just Dave

Simple - isnt it ?

Disclaimer:

this is just a random IRC channel, nothing official - if any of RenX reading this i suggest to maybe implement a web IRC channel onto the website so that newcommers can find it more easily. If an official one will be created, this one will be closed.

ok did not know about those channels ...

To join #renx official channel ( #renx on irc.mp-gaming.com ) you

can use your favourite IRC client or use this browser based client:

Lets do the same thing there then and use the official channel as Gamelobby

use "status^nick" in order to show that you are interested in playing or already playing

Status is either wait (interested to play/waiting for other players) or game which means your acutally on the server
