KamiFlashedDODO Posted August 8, 2009 Share Posted August 8, 2009 hello community. i have been waiting for this for a long time, let me begin. when Renegade first came out in 2002 i was the happiest man alive, it was the greatest game i had ever played. and at that time, the graphics were also really new! i soon discovered the multiplayer, and spent many nights and sleepless hours doing what a gamer does best. and as the years went by, the game got less and less support, soon any serious player had to move to gamespy because westwood servers shut down, and then we all moved to renguard. but eventually the countless cheaters and the nights where no one was online drove me away from the game. this was about two years ago. for 7 long years i had played on and off, and i was always hoping and telling myself. "some one has to make a renegade 2, or mod one of those new games like source or something" and now, this has come true. better than my dreams, i saw that headline on the fileplanet homepage this morning, and i knew i would be jumping for joy as i had when i was a small child. it was like learning about santa all over again. just this time, he brings me a present which is better than the one i asked for. the unreal engine is amazing, infact the unreal franchise was the first fps i ever played and fell in love with, the coming together of these two great things, makes me ecstatic. i want to first say thank you to the team. and im glad the community is still strong. i look forward to playing with all of you once this goes live. i will try to be a good member of the forums, and i hope that this doesnt get pushed under a rug like so many other great mods in our history. Just so you know, Renegade is still alive! The cheaters have just about disappeared for the past year, and RenGuard is no longer necessary for anyone (there are server-side stuff that catch cheaters now). XWIS has replaced WOL, and Gamespy is still around, as well as quite a few servers and a few hundred players (at a time).
