  1. Figured I'd update this thread a little bit, so here's some more of my recent C&C inspired video work.

The content combines what I love about games and related experiences with providing insight aimed at facilitating various forms of growth for the viewer (depending on what one takes away from the videos of course - we're all different). There are some other videos on the channel as well, so feel free to look around if anything resonates well with you in some way.

Another CC episode if you like listening about map design and any connected thoughts:

Something different - a video that hopefully might motivate you if you're feeling down, stuck or as if no progress is being made:

A quick example and some thoughts about neglecting used assets in games:

When your favorite series finds its way into your other games and experiences:

Looking forward to making more videos. Please enjoy and let me know if you have any input to share.

    Thank you! :)

  2. I've started a series about experiences in game development meant to motivate creativity in smaller bursts. Each little video contains some hopefully thought-provoking bit of information on some smaller game making topic. I've started with some thoughts on TS mission design, but might move over to Dune 2000 and some other experiences as time goes on, to better illustrate different topics and keep it entertaining.

There are two videos in the playlist so far, if anyone here is interested:

Damn, I just watch your video and.. I really like it ! Tiberian Sun is my first C&C Game and my favorite Game on ambiance side in Tiberium Univers, thank you for this video
    Nice work

Thank you! Makes me very happy to hear you enjoyed it. I'm relatively new to video production and did my best with what I had available.

Great video, Tiberian Sun was also my favourite RTS game, I don't play anymore but I enjoyed watching the commentaries on youtube and also the ones for Kane's Wrath that I never really played online properly. I was also a big fan of Nox from Westwood Studios and I really hope somebody else catches onto the formula they had with that game also, which all these other full 3D modern equivalents don't get as they're just too slow and point and click. All they need to do is update engines, graphics and produce a new but similar compelling story. I don't know if Petroglyph are planning to remaster Tib Sun the same way they have the original, but I'd probably prefer an original RTS title if they bring all the team back as it were. Everything I've bought in adult life has been action/adventure FPS games like Witcher and Deus Ex, no more rts - but Renegade has been the longest running game I've still played. I think without the early depth of story they put into the early RTS strats and developing the world that Renegade would feel too hollow to continue playing.

Thanks! It's enlightening to think about, as I've moved on to primarily story driven games like Mass Effect, for example. Anything that's focusing in on the depth of the story and characters. Tiberian has that all over the place, more so on a grander scale with factions and the atmosphere, so it was a natural evolution. I've never played RTS games in a competitive way, but I liked base building and making things feel lived in. On a side note, I'd much rather get my hands on the uncompressed HD FMVs and cutscenes from TS, than play a remastered RTS game. TS looks great as it is, but they can always expand on that as they're doing with the originals nowadays.

  4. I made a Tiberian Sun video as a less technical review of sorts, focusing more on the atmosphere, style and emotional experience. Some jokes and nostalgia in there for good measure too. Figured some of you here might appreciate such a tribute, so let me know if it resonates well with you.

I have some other C&C related videos on there, but this is the one I'm most proud of. :)

  5. Wolverines are great engi hunters in TS! hehe

You can see that Chems is very happy to be alive in the end of Rescue Elite. He even pulled out a tiberium crystal from its ground socket to celebrate life!

  6. Thank you both for the replies, it's appreciated!

To the Renegeade X question, I haven't considered doing anything separate although I did intend on including special episodes which feature a joke or two based on well known C&C mods and indie titles like Renegade X and Tiberian Sun Reborn. I just never got that far with the comic.

  7. UPDATE 2019

I wanted to update this thread. I used to make a Tiberian Sun themed webcomic out of LEGOs as you likely already now. I stopped producing them quite a while back due to some technical and time related difficulties. Two primary websites where the comic used to be hosted have both been shut down, so I wanted to reupload the comic as a complete collection without the previous site's branding. The collection also includes a few extra goodies!

I remember not posting the last three or four episodes on every outlet, so some of you might not have seen those if you weren't checking the old sites where it was hosted. The series wasn't planned to end with E13, but the conclusion in that one is a good parting point so it doesn't end on a cliffhanger at least. :)

    TIBERIAN DAYLIGHT COMPLETE COLLECTION

    OTHER GOODIES / EXTRAS

Thanks again to everyone and I hope you enjoy the extra goodies!

  8. It's a fresh install on a fresh Win7 64 OS. I reset it in order to get through a black screen, so that was done already. It is however my first time using Microsoft Security Essentials and I have Malwarebytes running in the background (but not actively, merely an on-demand scanner). My firewall is up but it should be letting it through. When I click on Launch in the Launcher, I get a server running, but that's on my end. I just remember it being so simple to join a game before, and now neither the game or launcher does anything once a server is clicked heh.

  9. Seems like every time I reinstall the game it comes up with a new launch problem. Any help would be much appreciated. Running Win7 Pro SP1 x64. Didn't change any hardware from last time I played a few months ago, only added another stick of RAM.

Built with UDK has stopped working. Fresh install, updated, once launched just loads on a black screen indefinitely until it decides to stop working. No audio. Tried a few possible fixes already, didn't help.

  10. Shouldn't be a problem LavaDr4gon since neither Totem Arts who made the game nor EA who owns the IP will likely claim anything from your videos. If perhaps EA were to step in at some point for whatever reason, the videos would get something like ID claims (content like the Renegade voice clips could be detected) and your monetization for those specific videos would just be turned off as far as I know.

I'm not sure how copyright works regarding Renegade X and EA since Totem Arts has permission to make the game available for free, but it's still EA's IP so if they can issue claims which lead to copyright strikes for a game that isn't theirs but uses their IP with permission, that'd be really strange to tackle. I'm not a legal expert, just thinking out loud considering we've made this into a productive YouTube policy topic.

Just include us in the video description pls if you use RenX content in your vids and if it isent obvious enough from the vid itself.

Why of course - a note on which game is being shown is to be expected. It's common courtesy and brings in potential new players to the scene, which is always good. So no worries on that front.

EA gave green light to Totem Arts to do the RenX project AND said not to make money off of it, not even a single penny. If in doubt, you could inquire EA about it.

I'll take a more detailed look into it soon just to be on the safe side. I'm not planning on monetizing any videos anytime soon, but trying to future-proof videos should anything like that happen at some point down the line.

Thank you both for the helpful replies! I really appreciate it.
