  1. It's unfortunate that you weren't enjoying yourself that much! While I certainly want lots of people to play Renegade X, it is somewhat of a niche game, and may not be for everyone. To kind of address some of what you wrote though:

I think the addition of recoil is what makes for such long TTKs now (not that they were that short in the old one really either). After more playing/pondering I don't think I'm a big fan of the recoil. When I first learned of it I wasn't excited at all, and while it's not as bad as I anticipated, I'm just not sure it adds that much to the gameplay (and really only works to strengthen already strong hitscan weapons).

I'm not entirely sure what you mean by dull vehicle fights. If you mean it's hard to break lines because of an engy repair fest on vehicles, then you (or a teammate) has to simply go and kill the repairers (I recommend grabbing a sniper as it works rather well for this).

This is affected by server size though, and depending on the number of players playing experiences can vary wildly. I personally prefer 16 or 24 player servers, although 32 isn't that bad, but can become spammy (and I think gameplay already begins breaking down a little bit at that point). That's not to say that there shouldn't be big servers, as some people really enjoy that, but I think Renegade was designed around 8-16 player teams.

It's also really important to keep in mind that this is a very team oriented game, and that there are roles to fulfilled and that that makes or breaks a team. It's still very early in open beta and many people are (re)learning the game, so it will take some time before people get accustomed to varying degrees of teamwork by default.

Ultimately though, I hope you stick it out and at least give it another go with perhaps some different/altered expectations. And if you still don't like it, well, perhaps unfortunately this game just isn't for you then.

Yeah TTK and recoil dont go well hand in hand if you ask me, i dont like it in renegade and think it should be removed, but thats not to say that i got issue killing people, its just that it makes hitscan much more viable as i find myself using hitscan all the time outplaying characters within and over the same cost range.

  2. Well i got the same feedback from most of my friends trying to get them to play this game but for me having played this for a few years now don't really see the game the same way and is why i feel its hard at times to put myself in a new players shoes, but i agree, something could be done but im just not sure what.

  3. There has to be an aimbot out there. I saw someone go 59-3 (username GREENPEACE) and he was using a sakura and connecting on every single shot.

I remember both of you from that lakeside game yesterday, people were complaining but I actually saw him miss a few shots (all on free inf running of course, bar was destroyed...)

Thing about renegade is that you can do crazy scores if you know what youre doing. Also the addition of airstrike makes it really easy to rack good scores.

  4. Cant wait for proper Marathon and server settings to come up so i can see if this game lives up to the old Marathon feel :) Its great to fight for hours, leave to get some food and come back and the game is still going and probably affected by what you did before you returned. Its great.

  5. Now that I've played the game I can say this is a big problem.

There isn't much indication on when you're being shot but a faint hit marker and bullet impact sounds, especially from silenced weapons.

The health and ammo bars should be made bigger at least as a temporary solution because I keep not noticing i'm on low health unless I look down.

The UI is fine as long as they add that HP and possibly the Ammo counter because atm i keep pushing to much because i don't think I've taken any damage at all

  6. The thing about airstrikes, and while I already have posted my suggestions, the thing about them is that you really don't need to see where they are planted.

Just use some common sense and little bit of deductive reasoning.

"Am I in a spot that the enemy wants?" "Does the enemy have a clear line of sight on my location?" "There was an airstrike announcement a second ago!"

If you just take a second to think, you can deduce where the airstrike is most likely going and steer clear of it.

I mean, really. If you have 6 mammoth tanks clogging up the front of Nod's base on field... then gee, I wonder where that airstrike is going... :\

One of the problems is you wont hear the announcement. But i also think with 700 creds being able to deny the whole enemy advance ether way is stupid because you let them advance that far in the first place.

  7. If things are unclear then it is the game/ our fault.

Aside from the Renegade quirks things should be pretty self-explanatory if you have an elegant gamedesign and all the visual / audio cues to support w/e is supposed to be going on.

There's a lot of stuff that requires tweaking and I think the EVA sounds are definitely one of them... we should look at prioritizing them above all other sound for instance.

The airstrike is kind of unclear, I think the game should do all it can to scream AIRSTRIKE!!! "shoot this mans to stop it from happening"

Yes, i do think the airstrike can be a good tool to make packs of snipers or tanks to spread out making a point of assault viable for the team calling it in and that it should not be used as a mean to get rid of the whole enemy forces.

Also i think it should be up to each server administrator to decide if they want stuff like Airstrikes in the game or not, as not everyone like this feature those who pay for the server should be able to decide if they want it in theirs or not.

  8. I don't agree that it's the games fault people aren't noticing the enemy point a laser at them for several seconds.

I don't agree that it's the games fault people aren't paying attention to EVA/CABAL telling them to get out of the way.

If people can't pay attention in the middle of all that mouse1 action they're doing, that's entirely on them as far as I'm concerned.

I think you fail to see what we are trying to point out, with as much going on at the screen there is no way to see the laser, its hard enough to see without there being explosions around and for the voice, when something like, idk, bombs and tanks shells going off all over and people using "I NEED REPAIR" commands you wont even notice it at all.

  9. Stop it with your fair warning, that blends in with everything else thats being said, lacking any visual cue, and the laser is so tiny and transparent, nevermind all those effects the maps have nevermind all the explosions going around, I've never really seen one.

Nothing fair about air strikes, if they were so obvious people would be dodging them, they're not, they need to be clearer.

I won't censor myself because others need the game to hold their hand.

What? Hand holding? It got nothing to do with hand holding, there is currently no way to notice while in big combat if someone from miles away is targeting you, there needs to be a circle or giant arrow or something to show this area is being bombarded and at the same time make it so it don't hurt inf as much, as airstrikes can and have been abused already to cover beacons.
