  1. Make sure to mine the corners too on Walls, as people can walk on the rocks at the side and get inside the base that way too. Not just via the middle or the tunnel below it. They're the corners where in the Renegade version of the map you can do a three man wall hop to get inside the base. The rocks on the side have invisible ramps allowing you to get in the base at the location in the corner.

  2. I don't really understand the negativity and hate. The developers have done an excellent job for a first beta release. As the saying goes "many eyes make all bugs shallow", there have been a lot of people playing and giving feedback regarding bugs.

The WORST thing to do right now is to release patches every few weeks, as:

1.) It requires more testing time to re-test the game the more patches get pushed in a time period.

2.) Things that can go wrong every patch release are more likely to go wrong because more patches are being pushed.

3). Totally new bugs can be introduced.

Besides that there aren't any game breaking bugs and like HaTe said there is no issue with cheaters.

  3. I enjoy watching people get the superweapon death crates. Like xD_ERROR_xD said, it's part of the original game and everyone always gets a good laugh from 4-5 people and/or vehicles dying at the same time lol. If you guys dislike Renegade why don't you guys play a game like Call of Duty, BattleField 3 or another dumbed down game designed for 13-year-olds where everyone is about equal in skill?

  4. Oh you misread my post. I sense English isn't your first language (are you Chinese?). I said it would be disrespectful to server owners to not give server owners the FREEDOM to decide to enable building revival as was quite popular in the last few years in Renegade. I wasn't saying it is disrespectful to Renegade. :P

"so i think later on every single server probably has its own mods running

some probably will allow donations to rebuild a destroyed building"

I sure hope this will happen, at the moment every server is pretty much the same while Renegade had a wide variety of diverse game modes and server settings. As the saying goes, diversity is our strength.

  5. Yeah I agree with the Mammoth Tank being underpowered, it's so fat and slow and only has marginally more armor than the Medium Tank. It gets roasted by Flame Tanks too lol..

Nod tanks are a lot more powerful than the ever were in Renegade though, devs might want to take a look into it. Especially the splash and firepower of the Mobile Artillery, but splash damage from vehicles in general seems to kill tech repairs more quickly.

  6. Spy crates, parachutes, donations and other wise and gameplay enhancing gameplay elements added by Renegade X also weren't in the 'original code' of Renegade (though the game has code for a donation netcode event, cDonationEvent). They were all added by server-side Renegade mods.

So your argument is quite ridiculous. But yeah I don't mind them being added by mutators but doesn't it require developers to add extra support for it (I'm clueless about UDK and Renegade X server-side modding)?

  7. Not sure if this is a troll thread or not but I have a game just for you, which addresses all your complaints:

    images?q=tbn:ANd9GcRto7ZjIPgwp4U_QKHYS0zGc9fYBsJbJVfL6v0F9VnTRwpXNDHR7A

As a long time dedicated Renegade veteran I feel Renegade X completely addresses all Renegade issues and imbalances and totally doesn't add any new unbalanced units completely without any justification.

  8. I think this would definitely improve marathon servers at the very least. Both options presented by the OP sound interesting. I think it's for server owners to decide though. Various very popular Renegade servers like MPF and st0rm allowed for this and I feel it would be disrespectful to not re-add the option for server owners to decide on this. Many players really liked the ability of restoring structures as it adds extra depth and teamplay to the game.

  9. The game is too much defense-based. It's essentially CnC without a commander and no amount of communication is going to make it work. To have people cooperate, you have to tie them together and send them to fight.

Giving individuals even more defensive options is ridiculous. Engineers are already questionably powerful, keeping the tanky stuff nigh invincible, and the weapons that are meant to counter them do poor damage. The most popular tactic is to either go SBH and place a beacon or fill two APC's with engineers and rush in like ejaculation hoping that at least some of them manage to bomb the MCT. The only infantry that's any good at putting out damage is snipers, again a defensive class. If anything that is a sign that something is horribly wrong.

Tech buildings should give the team that captures them an upper hand in offense, not defense. Defense only results in stalemates.

What you're stating is very contradicting. You say you that the game is too based on defense then state the fact that one player can destroy a building with an invisible unit without much effort and thereby crippling the enemy team severely. You also state that people can literally rush into the front door (!) with APCs and then quickly kill buildings with C4.

That doesn't exactly sound as a game where camping is too effective. :P

  10. Is the game free? It's a gem. No matter how bad it is, it's a free game and that makes it good. List all flaws, but make sure to be positive. Unless the game is utter shit like Big Rigs or something of the sort, TB won't say it's a bad game.

Of course, Renegade is a good game, but I bet you my guts he hates every bit of it. I just know him too well, he's like fish out of water in a game like Renegade (admittedly, most new people are, but not all of them hate the core mechanics nearly as much).

Are you implying Renegade X is a crappy free game and that Renegade is much better?

I disagree with you on that.

  11. I agree with DoMiNaNt_HuNtEr and after playing Renegade online for literally a decade I do think the developers were intending to add some of the remnant vehicles into the original game but simply didn't have enough time. There are many functions they could fulfill, not the least of which is lowering the staleness of vehicle combat.

In the original Renegade vehicle combat is a tad lacking as a result of the lack of diversity in the vehicles that can be bought and the specific functions they have. Nod doesn't have any heavy armor vehicles and is hurt more by this. I think Westwood worked around this by making the Nod Light Tank hard to hit and very powerful (the original beta model was based on a Bradley and easy to hit, like in C&C1), and buffing the Artillery, Stealth Tank and Flame Tank.

The way of thinking coming from DoMiNaNt_HuNtEr is very sound to a veteran player like me. Other Renegade players also wonder about the SSM Launcher and Recon Bike and the Recon Bike is a fan favorite on fan maps and servers with modified crates. It's pretty cool to drive around the Recon Bike too. Renegade X doesn't have Renegade's vehicle lag and vehicle steering and driving feels A LOT MORE realistic, so probably the Recon Bike would be even more amazing to drive in Renegade X if it were added.

  12. I actually enjoy the name changing and hope it doesn't get changed. In Renegade you could just connect with a different name so it doesn't exactly matter anyhow. Getting the player ID of a player is quite simple and it doesn't change when changing names in-game either.

  13. Those charges are quite ridiculous. Some Renegade servers in the past like Black-Cell, st0rm and MPF allowed you to either buy refills inside the field (which would parachute drop supplies next to you), and/or allowed for purchasing turrets with the !turret command. A few servers, like Atomix, even had a veterancy system and the ability to buy weapons, vehicles and characters in the middle of the field!

So watered down versions, which are being proposed and the devs are looking into, shouldn't affect gameplay in a negative way and actually improve the gameplay by adding more tactical depth to the game. The turrets don't really break sieges in TF2 either and everyone loves them!

  14. The developers of the original Renegade intended these sieges to be broken by dumping lots of Proximity mines on infantry and tanks and ramming them, preventing the enemy team from literally sitting at the front of your base.

I don't think it's unbalanced as it. Don't forget that SBHs can steal vehicles quite easily so GDI players can't get out and repair in the field. There's also the Airstrike which only costs $700 and was designed by the developers to break these boring sieges. Like sterps mentioned, Flame Tanks are a lot better than in the original Renegade so a few Flame Tanks can quite easily take back field control.

THERE'S also the big issue is that the new players don't yet have experience with using the overpowered Mobile Artillery. GDI tanks have more armor and some even have locking missiles, this results in less skilled players doing better with GDI tanks, just like when Renegade was first released. Once more people get experience you'll quickly see that the more powerful, with more splash, artillery will become a favorite when people get used to its weak armor and its reliance on tech repairs. From what I've heard the Nod Light Tank actually does about as many damage as the Medium Tank in Renegade X (haven't really had a chance to become familiar with the damage of tanks compared to each other yet, cause the game is so new!), which gives it a huge buff compared to Renegade.

That the game looks unbalanced to all the new players trying out the game is not to be unexpected. Give it a few weeks and people will adjust. :)
