  1. Yeah basically the team can't make any kind of money what so ever. This includes ads on the website/forums or selling t-shirts on places like cafepress. Even if the income is indirect, they can't do it, Reborn Gamers couldn't ask for donations to help with our servers here thanks to EA. SO yeah like havoc said, send an email to EA to confirm so you don't go messing with RenX's ability to create this free game.

  2. I'll state it now, i'm not a huge C&C fan, omg i know right, but it would make sense as they grew that they wanted to become more distinct and so choose a general scheme. GDI couldn't use the same excuse because they're a government ran organization.

As for the harvester animations, it would just add extra fps load because then you would need to model the internal structures of the harvester creating more surfaces you will need to load as you viewed the harvester. As i can agree that they can use better pathing, the whole animation of them backing up into the harvester and doing an animation to off load their load would just add to much graphic load.

This is a personal opinion and doesn't reflect the intentions of RenX.

  3. Where can I find the full size images? I only see the small thumbnails.

Same problem here, probably because of the transfer from the old forums to Vb, lost some bbcode in process i guess.

  4. Just a little heads up, the game is going through a phase at which it will be standalone (not requiring anything to play). I'm a beta tester for the black dawn release that's coming up and i have to let you all know that its pretty freaking awesome. I'm not a hardcore renegade player like many of you are but an unreal enthusiast that loves new tech and how people use it.

I have played renegade and see the appeal of it and i have to say that the team has done a great job so far keeping the old feel with the new graphics and "gimmicks." Granted black dawn is going to be a single player single campaign (multi-mission) but it will give you a nice sweet taste as to what will be coming for multi-player. Just keep an eye out for Fobbeh giving out his updates and such from it.

So in the end yeah, the UT3 mod is a little hard to play and get the feel that you got from the original renegade but trust me the future is very bright! Stick around and watch history being made!

  5. its simply a pure open world sandbox, near to endless world at it. It has day/night cycles with bad zombies and crap coming out at night to kill you unless you're in light (where these can't spawn) and have armor/weapons/etc....

People have done some pretty kwl things in it, i saw one dude create a 16bit ALU, pretty awesome, but most just create buildings, metropolises and such. Its fun and something to do when you're just flat out bored or down with cedar fever like me. I myself like to create roller coasters with the minecarts or create elaborate roadways with the minecarts =D

  6. if i remember being told correctly that all the damage calcs are the exact same from renegade. In other words it will take the same amount of bullets from an assualt rifle to kill someone in renegade as it does in RenegadeX to avoid this question. Personally all the weps end up getting used, granted some are better than others but thats where the credit system comes into play.

  7. As mentioned the pods were just where the earth had been pushed up, in the older engines, it was harder to morph the ground in small areas like that, which is now possible in the UE3 engine, my suggestion would be to morph the earth up around the crystals a bit showing that they had been pushed up from under the earth.

The response about armor damage, week spots and such. I play another game where tank battle are essential in the game. Basically there are several types of armor and different types of weapons that are effective and ineffective towards the various armors. SO basically, you have a tank with armor on it and in the HUD you see something like so ( ||||[tank]|||| ) with the vertical lines being the armor and as each side takes so much damage they loose their strength going from green to yellow to red then disappearing.

In renx i'd suggest a similar system so that the players have to worry about their vulnerable side being attacked so much. My only problem with this is the small maps that are common in this game. In larger maps where drivers have room to maneuver around other vehicles like a Humvee around a mammoth.

  8. Sweet pictures, now I want to play Black Dawn even more badly :D

I just hope my 8800GT won't be stressed too much by these badass graphics :P

I've got an 8600 GTS 512MB and i've been able to play through it with little difficutly and a steady 40-80 fps, at default settings, so there are setting you'll be able to run down/off to make it even better
