Hello,

I'm looking for help, I'm considering making a tiberium wars/kanes wrath mod for renegade X and had questions. I wanted to know if 1) is there a built in model editor/creator or if I would have to creat the models in other secondary programs such as maya or blender? 2)Are there any tutorials that can help me with what I look to create? 3)Would it be possible to implement/get some of the sound files from tiberium wars in R-X? 4)Can I create my own custom mechanics(explained below)? 5)Is someone already doing this?

I hope to start work on the mod and playing R-X once my computer is back in working order. I would also appreciate any help that I can get on this. I have fully listed my ideas for the mod below. Let me know what you think and if you have any suggestions. Also, would the changes effect balance too much?

1) Very crude one but I wouldn't recommend it for anything but basic geometry in a map, just use Blender, Maya, 3dMax, or perhaps even a model converter such as a person doing a RA2 crossover did with RA2 models.

2) Besides 1 other person doing a ra2 crossover, and various documentation on UDK on UE3.

3) Yes, you can package sounds into a UPK, and reference them in the units programming. Just get the original sounds in an individual file format.

4) Between a separate build of the game, and what mutators already do to change gameplay, yes.

5) Again, with RA2, but not Kane's Wrath.

Thanks, I appreciate that you took the time to answer my questions, the forums here and from looking around didn't tell me much about the game or the tools etc. I did see that about RA2, it surprised me a little. I didn't know that RA2 was that popular, just don't see it any more, guess I was wrong.

Well, maybe I can get a start on it once my computer is back from the shop. just draw up some concepts for the designs(well, considering I'm taking low red rts units and turning them into a fps scale and detail). Hope maybe I can get some help during work on this. If it's good, maybe totem will add it to the game, would be interesting to play multiple eras of CNC all in one game.

It is a difficult upbringing for sure. I am slowly working on a map and the lack of urban assets is even stretching my work out to where I wonder if I will finish it timely.

Ask for purchase system, consider most everything in Unreal3 doable for the most part. For instance, you could have multiple purchase systems, or one that changes, based on if a player or team bought a 1 time expensive upgrade. It could even look like the same purchase terminal, but the after one has same icons but send build commands for the upgraded version of the same vehicles/units.

Here is my finalized ideas, I wrote them out completely. I have some pretty big ambitions for this mod, but I hope that I might be able to generate some interest and some people may help out and lessen the load. Otherwise, I will probably be working on this for 6 months easily based on the complexity and depth. Depending on how well it ends up, I hope that it will be a good addition to the game and Totem might decide to include it in Renegade-X. Since tiberium Sun is in Renegade-X, I think Tiberium Wars/Kane's Wrath would be another great addition(Considering from what I've seen, Tiberium Wars and Kane's Wrath is the most popular game in the CNC franchise(or longest running, Red Alert may be the most popular though)). but anyway, heres what I got, feel free to post feedback on my ideas, I would really like some. I'm also working on some concept art for the Predator tank model(or atleast how I would imagine it looking in Renegade-X), will be posting that sometime later.

Tiberium wars/Kane’s Wrath mod:

These are the basic Ideas and changes that I have so far, still rough:

Vehicles:

GDI:

Humvee (Replaced by the GDI Pitbull from C&C 3, fires two rockets at a time)

GDI APC (Replaced by GDI Guardian APC, gets AP ammo upgrade (Renamed to M289 14.7mm APDS ammo) if possible)

Medium tank (Replaced by MBT-6 Predator, gets railguns upgrade (named changed to Rail cannon refit in game) if possible)

MRLS (removed, possibly replaced by GDI Juggarnaut walker)

Shatterer sonic tank (added)

Mammoth tank (Model replaced by Mammoth 27(or MK. III), also would get the Rail cannon refit upgrade like the predator)

Harvester (model changed to resemble Harvester from Tiberium wars era, AI controlled LMG if possible (otherwise modeled but non-functional))

Orca (Model changed to Tiberium wars era model, may add option for Zocom Orca as well (explained further on), May get Hardpoints upgrade (Renamed to improved missile Pylons) but not sure)

GDI Chinook transport (Model changed to Either V-35 Ox transport or with GDI hammerhead, not sure which would be better for balance)

Nod:

Buggy (Replaced by Tiberium wars era Raider Buggy, Laser capacitors would be available as an upgrade (name slightly changed to Laser Capacitor Retrofit))

Attack Bike (Added, would get tiberium core missiles upgrade)

Nod APC (Replaced by Reckoner APC, no weapons but would allow a few infantry to fire out through side ports instead of the bunker deploy ability. Would also get a new upgrade, called Tiberium Infused armor alloy(would include the Dozer blade upgrade, but would give select not vehicles a slight damage resistance buff as well as additional HP))

Light tank (Replaced by Scorpion Tank, would get the Laser capacitor retrofit as well as the aforementioned Tiberium Infused Armor alloy upgrades(if possible))

Stealth Tank (Replaced by Tiberium wars era Stealth tank, cloaking would be changed to have a more realistic effect if possible. Would get the tiberium core missiles upgrade)

Mobile Artillery (Replaced by Kanes Wrath Spectre stealth artillery, would get the Tiberium infused armor alloy upgrade possibly)

Flame tank (would be replaced by the Tiberium wars era flame tank, would get the Purifying flame upgrade (Slightly renamed to Purifying flame napalm) if possible)

Nod Harvester(Replaced with the Tiberium wars era Harvester with the Stealth, if GDI didn’t get the functional machine gun, than the stealth wouldn’t be implemented)

Nod Chinook (Changed to the Carryall transport, changed slightly to serve the same function)

Apache (Replaced by Venom patrol craft, would get the Laser Capacitor Retrofit upgrade if possible)

Avatar (Would give nod a vehicle to combat Mammoth tanks more effectively, but not sure if it would work in the engine)

Buildings:

GDI:

Advanced guard tower (replaced by sonic emitter, Tiberium wars sound effect would be used, but would like a custom sound if someone could help me out there)

Guard tower (Replaced by Tiberium wars era Watch Tower, would get the M289 14.7mm APDS ammo upgrade if possible)

Buildings would all in general get overhauled to appear like their tiberium wars era design

Nod:

Air Strip (Removed, replaced by Tiberium wars era Nod War Factory)

Obelisk of light (model would be changed to match Tiberium wars era Obelisk. Would change the Firing animation when fighting infantry to match tiberium wars as well, giving it a sweeping attack towards infantry moving extremely quickly, but can be dodged with some good timing)

Cannon Turret (removed and replaced by the Laser turret from Tiberium wars)

Buildings updated to Tiberium wars era design.

Abilities:

GDI:

A-10 strike (would be replaced by Firehawk Groundpound bomb strike)

Ion Cannon strike (Effect would be changed a bit maybe, to be more reminiscent of the Tiberium wars Ion cannon strike)

Nod:

AC-130 strike (Would be replaced with a Vertigo stealth bomber strike, effect would be a big bomb strike but less than a nuke in terms of size)

Upgrades and other changes:

Upgrades:

The upgrades would add an additional layer to the game, but would be costly for either side to get but could turn the tide of the battle when purchased. The upgrades will be listed with price below, the original names will be in brackets. The upgrades are also very expensive, making it so one member of the team may have to go without special items or vehicles to get the upgrade for the benefit of the team.

GDI

M289 14.7mm APDS ammo (AP ammo): Would be an upgrade for the Watch tower and the Guardian APC, would increase by a moderate amount relatively, causing heavy DPS damage in large groups. Cost: $2500

Rail Cannon Refit (Railguns): Would replace the cannons on the Predator tank and Mammoth tank with Rail cannons for increased damage and shell velocity). Cost: $4000

Improved missile Pylons (Hardpoints): would allow Orcas to fire two more missiles per salvo. Cost: $1500

Nod:

Laser Capacitors retrofit (Laser capacitors): would provide an increase in Fire power to several nod vehicles, but rate of fire would be slightly slowed down however. Affects raider buggy, Scorpion tank, and Venom PC. Cost: $3000

Tiberium Infused Armor Alloy (a bit of a step up from the Original Dozer blades): Provides a small buff to damage resistance as well as an increase to equipped vehicles health. To know what vehicles have TIAA, said vehicles would have some additional armor as well as some green shading signifying its tiberium infused nature. Scorpion tank and Reckoner APC would also get dozer blades. Affects the Scorpion tank, Reckoner APC, and the Spectre Stealth Artillery (would get no dozer blade though, just the additional armor) Cost: $3000

Tiberium Core missiles: Upgraded missiles with Tiberium for the Attack bike and Stealth tank. Cost: $2500

Purifying flame Napalm (Purifying flames): An upgrade to the Flame tank, would provide increased damage. Cost: $3500

Consumables:

A new idea that I came up with. I decided that the Infantry would get upgrades as well, but would instead be used as consumables, having to be rebought after death. Not sure if it would work out well, just a concept I thought would add to the game. Would be unpurchaseable if the barracks was destroyed though.

GDI:

M249 7.62mm APFS AP ammo (AP ammo Otherwise): would be for rifle equipped infantry, providing them with improved anti infantry damage and slightly higher damage against light vehicles. Cost: $750

Tiberium field suit: Would grant additional armor as well as immunity to tiberium radiation damage. Cost: $600

Nod:

Tiberium infusion: would provide a temporary bonus to damage resistance, health, mobility, and Immunity to Tiberium radiation damage. Would last about 5-7 minutes perhaps. Cost: $750

Purifying Tanks: Would affect flame throwers, swapping out their standard ammunition with enhanced Purifying flame napalm. Cost: $1000

The consumables so far are just what I came up with, I have no doubt more could be added. I had a few ideas for a few more consumables, but I’m still thinking about them generally.

Music/sound effects:

I had several ideas that I was going to implement as far as the sound was concerned. First of all, the sound track would be swapped out for the Tiberium wars/Kanes Wrath sound track (optional part of the mod, but I think it would be great for the overall experience). Next some of the sound effects would change to their Tiberium wars sound effects, but I would run them through a program to improve the quality overall, as well as maybe tweak them to take advantage of bass as well as combine them with some improvements. Examples of changes that would be made would be to vehicles like the Scorpion tank, Predator, Mammoth, Obelisk of Light, and Stealth tank. Lastly, I think I would need Totem for this, but I would like to change the messages for unit deployments since they have different names. I don’t know if this would all be doable, but I would hope so

I would say it's your opinion, cause tiberium wars and kanes wrath are actually the most popular game in the tiberium trilogy and was very popular when it released. Kanes wrath/tiberium wars tournaments are still being held today.

The tiberium sun additions to renegade-X are right on the front page and in the forum when you first came to the ask general discussion, I don't know how you missed them. There's a full game mode I believe under construction that will be playable sometime in the future if I understand things correctly.

Well... I've talked to some fans who were not so crazy about it, even going so far as to say its totally down hill from the series. I think it's a pretty decent game, but had a lot of problems.

And I was talking about a game mode. I don't want them in crates, I want them balanced and added into the game purchasable.
