Renegade X Black Dawn Screen Resolution Error

I have Renegade X Black Dawn singleplayer. The resolution is set to a default of 1280x1024. If I try to change the screen resolution, the whole screen goes black, then a narrow column on the right of my screen starts flashing the desktop. I turned on Task Manager, and saw that Renegade X was not responding while the screen was flashing.

I use Windows 7 64 bit.

The only thing I can come up with is that there is a way to change the resolution without going through the Settings before starting up Renegade. Anyone know where the file with resolution is, and how to change it?

^^ There's no such folder. There is:

..\UDK\Renegade X Black Dawn\UDKGame

And then there is a bunch of folders, but nothing with the name "ConfigUDKSystemSettings.ini"
