Game causes mic to cut out?

Played this today with a friend. Fun game, but it causes my mic to cut out/squeal/etc. while on Skype. It only happens while Renegade is open - tabbing out would fix it, only to immediately resume again after tabbing in.

Anyone have any ideas as to how to fix this? I have updated sound drivers... kind of at a loss. I've got an onboard Realtek card on an ASUS P8Z68-V Pro/gen3 motherboard.
