  1. There is something else that might trip up high spec NVIDIA systems, Power Management Mode being set to Adaptive, basically what this does is if the GPU usage isn't very high it'll change the GPU clock speed to a slower speed to save power. This give really bad stuttering in games while it flicks back and forth performance and power saving modes.

To fix it, ether select or add the Renegade X executable to the Program Settings list (see the first screen shot in the OP) then find and change Power Management Mode, to Prefer Maximum Performance.

Thx for this suggestion. Although for my laptop this did not work. My setting is always on max performance but the game only uses my gpu when i change it in the global settings, not in the program settings for some odd reason. Anyway hope this will get fixed though cause i dont like using my gpu all the time when its not really needed. My onboard is just fine for most of the stuff.

  2. I don't have that option when I go to my NVIDIA Control Panel. This gpu came with my pc when I bought it from best buy. I don't expect it to be great. I just want to upgrade it. I'm considering the options you guys gave me. Thanks for the help!

Hmm A friend of mine has a slighty worse gpu and the game runs fine for him though, not excellent but decent enough on normal settings. It's weird you dont have that option though. Is everything updated? Latest drivers etc? Maybe provide a screenshot from your control panel?

Dunno for sure if this might give you a significant increase or not (it did for me and my friends) but its worth a shot right?

  3. I wanted to drop this post here because me and a lot of my friends had the exact same issue and when looking at the forum we were not the only ones it seems:

I had this weird bug where my fps was really low and the game was unplayable although I have a GTX 780 GPU and i7 CPU.

I've had this issue before with other games and the most common solution was selecting the correct GPU for the specific game/program which you can select in your Nvidia configuration screen under Manage 3D settings. You simply select the game/program (if it's not in the drop-down list you can "Add" it) and then select which graphics processor to be used: image.axd?picture=2011%2F1%2FNvidia+Controlpanel+Optimus.png

HOWEVER this does not seem to work with Renegade X! The only solution is to change your GPU in the Global Settings. Just select the High Performance GPU and the game should work smoothly: OOfnr.png

Dunno if this is a bug but maybe it will get fixed soon so it work with just changing the program settings.
