I've been out of the loop for several months. I don't mean to be inflammatory, but how the hell is it possible that a free game only has four people playing it right now? I feel like I'm taking crazy pills. Is my lobby bugged out or something?

I tend to put Act on Instinct on repeat while I play.

This is already starting to kill the game. Every time I've tried to play the past few days there's been one full US server, one half full, and the rest ghost towns. Everyone I convinced to download it with me when beta started has quit playing due to the proliferation of hackers the past week.

It's just something you have to learn to live with, unfortunately, especially with free games. My desire to play has been dampened the past week because I'm lucky to get in a couple matches before something fishy happens. I'm skeptical that so many people became natural headshot masters over the last 13 days. It's very noticeable compared to the first week of open beta. I'm hoping that the developers will go with Steam at launch and can get VAC in game. It's better than nothing. And while I can appreciate that some people want a DRM free release, I don't think it's fair that everyone else should suffer with hacking because of that desire. I'd say the vast majority of PC gamers have Steam by now.

I wasn't basing my observation entirely around K/D, but when you're able to regularly gun down 2-3 people per clip with the marksman rifle, inside their base, all with consecutive headshots, all while standing by the Tiberium field on Whiteout, all in the span of four or five seconds... then yes, my first intuition is going to be that you're aimbotting. If someone can post a video of themselves pulling that off legitimately, I'll eat my words. No one is that good that consistently. We're not talking about the Ramjet, here. This isn't a hitscan weapon. It has bullet drop.

It was a marksman, that's what I meant when he said he was being blatant about it. He was mowing people down with marksman headshots. Like, you'd come around a corner and be dead in half a second.

You can't one shot infantry from halfway across the map with a marksman rifle. It's not comparable to a Ramjet.

GameAnarchy is most assuredly aimbotting. Ran into him earlier tonight, and he's nowhere near subtle about it. I've never understood why there are so many people in the FPS community who feel compelled to defend this shit. Decrying hackusation is one thing, but there comes a point where you're insulting everyone's intelligence. Big difference between pulling a 20+ KDR with vehicle whoring and airstrikes vs. pulling a 20+ KDR by laying waste to everyone with consecutive marksman headshots from halfway across the map.

You would be surprised the lengths the average hacker is willing to go to in order to keep hacking. As long as a single person is bitching about hacks in chat, they will move mountains to keep feeding off it.

It does make a huge difference if it's one guy or a small group trying to infiltrate a building. Two SBHs killed me in a game earlier and planted a nuke beacon inside the refinery... if I had been willing to cheese the resupply terminal, they would have never done so.

Played this today with a friend. Fun game, but it causes my mic to cut out/squeal/etc. while on Skype. It only happens while Renegade is open - tabbing out would fix it, only to immediately resume again after tabbing in. Anyone have any ideas as to how to fix this? I have updated sound drivers... kind of at a loss. I've got an onboard Realtek card on an ASUS P8Z68-V Pro/gen3 motherboard.
