My exact feelings of the map right now. MRLS is the only real way GDI can attack at the moment, which is not how it should be.[/b]
Which ways have nod except Artillery?
Stealth is not possible becaust of the guard towers and no tank in the game has enough range to fire into the base (and GDI has also the better tanks)
And MRLS is better than Artillery because it locks a target and the missiles fly over the hill top.

Yesterday, NOD lost every round on hourglass against an MRLS-Rush...
  2. What are those advantages of NOD?

GDI's artillery fires missiles and have a big advantage over the nod artillery, since the mlrs can hit vehicles on the other side of the hill and every building in the nod-base while standing on the own side of the hill.

Tanks play only a role in rushes, since no tank has enough range to hit a building from top of the hill.

  3. I never saw a map in Renegade X where only NOD can win...

The only imba-Map i saw was field in original Renegade.

GDI just had to plant 3 Nukes in tunnel at the beginning, so nod had no money for vehicles and GDI rushed the base without resistance.

(BTW: Nod couldn't nuke a GDI-building from the tunnel)

I don't care if the CnC team gets kicked or not or if C&C continues or not. I never played ANY RTS online. For me, C&C started becoming unappealing with C&C Generals because of the horrible SP-Campaigns which had nearly no atmosphere or story.[/b]

    I fully agree to that.
I play C&C since 1995 when tiberian dawn was released.
    C&C 1 - C&C 3 (the real C&C 3, which means tiberian sun) had a unbelieveable atmosphere.
RA2 was a small step backwards.

Renegade fullfilled the dreams of every C&C-Player, who have not wished to drive a mammoth or seeing the battlefield from the eyes of a soldier?

The end of Westwood as it was swallowed by EA also marks for me the end of C&C.
Generals had nothing in common with C&C but the name.
It was the last C&C i've bought, but it was a waste of money.

and remove the homing capabilities of the rockets, and make them fly straight forward only.[/b]
MRLS-Rockets in original Renegade are also heatseeking.
They have no "lock on"-signal, but they follow targets on the last ~30m...

And the MRLS was even more powerfull in renegade because of it's fixed missile bay (like in reality)
You can fire them on a target behind you, so they turn after leaving the bay.
Because they are fired in a much biger angle in this way, they can fly over high barriers.

Result: The MRLS in Renegade X is easy to use for noobs but experienced gamers have much more possibilitys with the version from original Renegade.

BTW: I agree Jointn00b, modern artillery fires ~150mm high explosive shells, they blow up everything they hit.
And the bigest MRLS (like the russian ones) fires a single intercontinental missile with nuclear warhead...

Artillery are still overpowered considering their cheap price tag.

Though with the MLRS's general improvedness (read: lock on missiles + swivel turret), and the lack of splash damage through walls... hmm, maybe i'll re-think this...[/b]
Artilleriy had allways enormous firepower and a very long distance.
But the NOD-Artillery requires skill to hit over long distances, MLRS is useless in short distances and both can't stand enemy fire.

That's the principe of command & conquer: Two sides with absolutely different vehicles, every one has strengths and weaknesses, but no one is imba.

I've played Renegade X now for a few hours and i think, the ballance is extact the same like in C&C: tiberian dawn and the original C&C Renegade.
  7. When i saw the screenshots, my first thought was "What does that spectre in Warcraft 3???"

I played every real C&C (developed from Westwood means real for me), i'm a fanatic since 1995, but the story died with Renegade as the last real C&C...

So sad what EA did to the best strategy series in the world :( , but they also trashed Battlefield...

We could always release it over bittorrent if it ends up being very large.[/b]
This would also accelarate the download speed, if you use your fileserver as torrent-seeder...
Every big mod is shared over torrent, for example Forgotten Hope 2 (>2GB)

Also torrent splits a file in many parts and has checksums for every part, so the result is correct.
