GDI and stealth

... I can't tell if you're trolling or not.

Hi to you,

in so many topics the balance is discussed. Many of the advantages and disadvantages are related to GDIs armor superiority.

lMAO, I think the McFarland and Mammoth Tank should not be available to Nod - should be removed from crates.

Why?

Because, as soon as Nod gets McFarland, all the balance around armor are nonsense !

EDIT: Added grammar mistakes

Your example is not suitable. Pease pick something else. Comparing McFarland and stealth doesnt make any sense. There are many balances made because Nod has stealth.

They all make sense, until GDI gets the same technology and abilities !!

people who plenk and use excessive exclamation marks are fucking cancer !!!!!

Mammoth tank is by far the best protection for repairmen and a great damage soaker for nearby vehicles. When Nod gets a hold of a mammoth, their presence in the field becomes a lot more threatening as techs have a nice hiding spot and artys/stanks can do their damage without getting melted. GDI getting a stank or SBH has minimal benefit to field control.

On top of this, vehicle theft leads to Nod getting tanks that weren't balanced for them to have, a lot more often, than GDI ever finds themselves in possession of a stealth tank, stolen or otherwise.

On that note, be CONSISTENT. Either give Nod the ability to see GDI SBH Spy as a "teammate" sees them, or give Nod the ability to get SBH spy themselves which are stealth and invisible to base defenses.

I don't care which. Personally, SBH Spy are game-enders and should be available to both teams from crates.

Even if there were two separate crates, one for regular spy characters, and one for SBH spy that had it's own odds of rolling and worked for either team.

Even if the "spy sbh" was a new unit designed fresh for either team to get out of crates that is cloaked and evades base defenses. It's awful that Nod cannot get SBH that are undetected by base defenses, but GDI can.

Only detectable within the closest cell.

By the way, stealth 500 sniper is too ideal to be true.

Anyway, just make the spy SBH obtainable by both teams, or by neither teams. Preferably both.

If you are going to make a crate make any player's unit stealth, that'd be skong af, might as well do to tanks that the player enters too. Dat stealth Mammy is nothing compared to the vehicular manslaughter of a Buggy, Humvee, Recon Bike, or Light Tank.

Nod can get GDI technology from crates, GDI can get Nod technology from crates, I don't see how that's not consistent.

Yeah base defenses can't see you, but you still can't see their stealth units, it's pretty likely to get discovered by a real sbh or a stank.

The sbh spy might be powerful, but Nod has the GDI vehicle crates, AND also the ability to easily steal GDI's tanks when someone leaves it to repair, so I think sbh spy compensates for that nicely.

Cloacking crates for any characters sounds nice but only for limited time or people are going to be pussies not wanting to lose their stealth character. And I prefer that spies are not ignored by base defenses, getting a free opposing team character is already a huge advantage, especially stealth black hands. I don't have problem with stolen stealth tanks since turrets and obelisks melt them fast on maps with base defenses.

The whole purpose of the Spy is to infiltrate and as such, in Renegade and Renegade X, that means bypassing Base Defenses, rather than granting a opposing team character.

In the case of Renegade X, the act of getting a character is just to help bring forth the disguise as a friendly unit.

In practice granting all Spies an SBH character gives GDI more of an advantage, compared to Nod, since Nod already have the ability to buy stealthed units, although the ability to bypass base defenses is necessary for Nod since the AGT is so brutally efficient at killing SBH. GDI get less advantage from bypassing the base defenses, as Nod's defenses are generally worse at Infantry (especially over shorter distances).

So in turn, they balance out quite well. If all spies were SBH, it would be a perfectly good choice for both teams compared to the current method of granting a random enemy character (Spy Engineer or Soldier for example)

If this alone were the case, Spy SBH should not actually cloak. They should appear "long distance visible with cloak effect" as a Nod player would see another Nod Teammate SBH. Teammates aren't invisible to teammates, teammates just glimmer with light at any range with a UI box.

So if not for both teams getting SBH spy, then GDI's SBY spy should not functionally cloak, it should just appear to Nod, as a Nod SBH appears to Nod. If they notice it's not the real McCoy, then at least the spy wasn't any better or worse than a rocket soldier, chaingunner, or engineer.

Cloaked, it's the single most useful thing you could get from any crate ever, and both teams should have access to it. It would be pretty fucking important to Nod if they got one.
