  1. forgot about this, i used to do the same on UT99, i think on that i used to have X Axis movement normal and Y axis movement lowered, it just suited how i played, i tended to strafe into shots as opposed to frantic mouse movements, might give this a go again. cheers for the reminder.
  2. Won't that use up more than "a bit" of space then, since every single texture and model is being recorded simultaneously? I had figured it was per player perspective so that the huge amount of space would at least be limited to the FoV of the player. How big are each 2 minute long recordings projected to be? its not a screengrab/animation/avi, UT uses its own recording method to track the games actors/models/etc, then admins/players can play the demo via the game and are able to switch to the POV of any player in 3rd or 1st person. honestly, server demos are a good solution, i used to hate UT99 clan matches, youd always have both teams fully arrive except 1-2 people who couldnt get in (i wonder why) then after waiting 10-15mins, they magically appear but both/all claim that recording a demo would crash their clients. this was a major annoyance, hopefully serverside demos will provide a better solution for clan vs clan games as well as public matches.
  3. i thought most were empty because un-admin'd servers clear out too fast when the inevitable hack players show up and ruin everyones games, so everyone gravitates to ones that are often admin'd?
  4. you just made it pretty damn obvious that youve either never played renegade x, let alone used the PIC, or your are a massive troll and need to GTFO i can tell by the rate of fire alone that the player with the personal ion cannon is obviously hacking, probably combining a rate of fire hack with an aimbot try re-reading my post, im saying quite clearly that people who just post threads as words only tend to get mocked, ive done so twice myself, i posted that there were cheats and got slammed by some saying im talking crap and that they are just good renegade/sniper players. then we have this thread which has concrete video evidence showing its quite clear and that its handy, and im agreeing and complimenting the video evidence showing everything nice and clearly. im re-reading my own post and cant see how youve misunderstood, unless im the only one thinking my post was clear?
  5. u get lots of "score" by blowing buildings up etc as opposed to high score from purely killing people, you get way way more score destroying buildings.
  6. its pretty funny tho in 2 or so recent games ive had my nod team win by basically all going stealth and stealing the gdi vehicles when their engineer drivers popped out to repair.
  7. if you had typed what the cheat(s) were doing instead of showing a nice quality video ill bet you'd have way more replies in here of people stating there are no cheats in renegade x and he was just a good player, a bit like the other cheat threads ¬ ¬ thats pretty damned useful tho, might be a better idea to keep fraps or bandicam running just incase.

  9. problem with that is, anyone can be anyone ingame by just changing the name.
  10. chat feature for the future? vnice how are you going to go about that, using IRC/quakenet/freenode/etc as a chat medium so as not to require your own chat server? nice ability tho, like making a lobby system for the game, could be quite interesting.
  11. anticheats relying on unrealscript / ingame methods have historically been unable to detect or do anything about hacks external to the game, also bots/hacks made for 1 version of unreal tended to work on any other games using the same version of unreal engine because their basically the same.

  13. looking more awesome by the update, to the right of your name filter, any chance of a text field for ping limits, ie enter 180 and only servers with a ping of 180 and less are shown, also possible for a tickbox to the right of that to filter out empty servers? 1 thing i do miss or cant work out yet with the official launcher and game is how to mark a server as a favorite and have them all listed at the top of the current list. hmm cant think of anything else extra atm but hey its a nifty piece of work there.

  16. add the game to the steam library so it can launch it. "Games" menu then "Add non a steam game to my library", load of icons of stuff u got installed appears, pick renegade-x and your set.... at least thats how i understand it. a search function for the leaderboard would be handy to see if its worked or not, i also assume it all goes horribly wrong if some1 else uses the same name as you?
  17. saw a clever nod team do something similar yesterday, we were stalemate for q a while, then they held back at our base as a lrg grp, sprang inside, got their troops to drop beacons on top of our vehicle factory then blocked the ramp up to the roof with apc's/stealth tanks when we tried to walk up the ramp or jump near the apc we died as if run over even tho it was pretty much stationary just blocking the ramp up. was clever and worked, i suppose it was a clever way to break the stalemate, we were pretty much on a downhill spiral after that.

    there are ppl who are good, the biggest indicator of something being quite wrong is noticing the kills racking up in succession far too fast far too regularly, and if your on the same team you end up noticing them doing things you think arent possible, then later once u check your findings just to make sure, and find out its not all peachy.

  20. v nice, possible to add a text field that works as a server name filter, so we could for example add stuff like PUBLIC, CLAN, UK, US, GER etc etc to narrow servers down by name/country/tags etc that we enter?
  21. so far, if im camping its because the enemy is doing a damned good job of pressuring us at our base and leaving it largely unprotected is seen as a risk until you can cleane your base of whatever risks are lurking nearby. Typically such risks come form the shortcuts/alternate route a fair few new players dont know exist till later, a couple of maps have paths/routes i didnt notice till i followed some1 else wondering wth they were off too, only to find yourself springing out into the enemy base on the sly.
  22. aye and its great when ppl can identify 1 from the other, its just a shame we look like whining fools to the masses when we make such claims, working anticheat really does help solve such issues before were left trying to play detective to see if someone if the real deal or a pure annoyance. and yeah soz, quoted you instead of a diff post i was after im hoping current unreal has better anticheat capabilitys but im guessing were not much better off than the days of ut99 and ut2k3, esp when i did some quick googling and found heaps of bad stuff in a short space of time for more modern unreal versions.
  23. when i used to run a grp of clans i was server admin of our clans SOF/UT99/CS/RTCW/Q3 servers and some of those needed some work, not only modified anticheats but manual admin'ing of the servers, i think the hardest was CS, ppl not understanding how zeroping worked, the fact the client draws the shots b4 it talks to the server who then lands the shots different to client, resulting in the usual "wtf i headshot em" etc. i think i temp cured the cs server issue using a weapon laser beam mod, teammates saw each others beams but not the enemy, spectators could see everyone, so me or another clanmate would spectate and watch suspected ppl, if their wpn beam was cutting thru scenery into ppls heads where they cant see them then we had a winner and dealt with them. ut99/ut2k3 was hard as well, only had modified anticheat packages to help but totally defeated by external cheats as unrealscript couldnt interact with anything beyond itsself at the time. doesnt help that aimbots have smooth move/aim so their harder to catch, no easy "spectate them and see them snap to target" etc, it really is a lot of work both for anticheat devs and server admins, at least on CS/etc you could ban/block their wonid/etc and never see them again, ut based games arent so lucky.
  24. can gdi aquire stealth via the surprise crates? ive changed class to some kinda minigun user i hadnt tried/seen yet when i was nod black hand, gutted id lost my stealth. also i think its q funny that the doors give a brief beep sound like the superweapon beacons do, i get paranoid and walk around till i catch on its the door opening/closing making 2 beeps.
