  1. I think changing the skin during combat is silly. Perhaps, though, you would have a team-color area much like RTS games do. That or something along the lines of a blinking or IR light to signify team-mates.
  2. The same players thought the airstrike was OP before. Complaining to complain.
  3. Crashing more frequently from map roatation than from beta 1. I'd say 30% more. I'll let the devs ineptitude slide due to being a free game, but man..you're not putting your best foot forward...
  4. Pro tip: Free RAM is useless. RAM SHOULD be filled...even if it's just with cache or data to be page-filed/swapped.
  5. Fine, Why a 90 second disarm time is stupid for pub games? It severely punishes the player who plants said beacon. Now players (reminder, OTHER chars not just SBH can buy and plant a becaon) have to try to defend their hard-earned $1000 beacons for 90 seconds. Beyond riciculous; it's a double bonus for the defending team because it alows players to waste $1000 credits AND net them free points. At that point you should just disable the beacons because it's nothing more than a waste In fact, you'll CREATE more 'pub player' drama when the complain that their $2000 investment was disabled because some lazy schmuck who wasn't paying attention now has all the time in the world to not only kill the planter but to disarm it. Mind-numbingly stupid. Why is neutering defences a stupid idea? Because not every 'pub player' is attacking. Rather, they'd be upset that the defenses they've been repairing and are so 'critical' didn't do jack against a single tank. It doesn't encourge team-play...it encourages lone-wolf strageies and severely punishes the pub player who wants to attack the other side. If let's say, a single flame tank rusing guarantees that it will survive against the main defence long enough to take it out...a single flame tank could then procede to wipe an entire base out which would basically defeat the purpose of base defenses. I can already hear yells of Mammy being OP because of this change.... Maybe...just maybe, I could grant a priority shift for automated defences to focus on vehicles and not infantry if vehicles are present, so when the first vehicle in a rush explodes that player still has a fighting chance to get into a terminal. Or, never hit the same target twice in a row if two targets are present. Honestly, this set of rules is just a compilation of contractary knee-jerk reactions. It does not encourage team play, it will just make the vocal minority whine about something else. There is zero thought into the consequences of the actions.
  6. Server owners can do whatever they want to the rule-set but I think your suggestions are stupid. Only 3. even merits a response: Add splash damage for people inside not at purchase terminals.
  7. People need to realize that like the flame tank the Mammoth is situational. It is not another 'I Win!' button. They're slow and they give Nod wayyyy too many points...which is why in Renegade only noobs or sieges called for Mammys. I see we're still at the stage of 'omg mammoths have 2 cannons and missiles...omg must buy!' for most players. Stop it. Stop it right now. If you camp your Mammy in a place where a flame tank can use a blind spot and get in close, you not only deserve to lose your Mammy, but also a soap 'n sock beatdown a-ala Full Metal Jacket. I don't necessarily have a problem with a ftank being used as a close range seiege or seige-buster. I think a better compromise would be to tweak the falloff against armor, combined with a slight speed penalty. Make the FTank driver really work to get in super-close to do any sort of major damage. Personally, I don't think doubling the damage against structures is all that great, as that just getting a single ftank in a base means certain doom for one structure. Any comparisons to TD are moot because of due to the lack of construction and exponentially fewer structures. A 50% buff against structures I can deal with if we nerf the falloff and speed.
  8. Ideas and concepts can come at any time. Build you skills first, because you're skills naturally augment your ability to design. Otherwise you spend weeks of effort planning your game with assumptions of gaining/learning skills you may not be able to do; or you realize that your ideas were trash and need to re-evaluate. You should only think about what game you want to make when you're actually competent enough to start making it. Here really isn't the place; it's a place to talk about RenegadeX. Go to a place like Polycount or other game-art centric areas. You are NOT going to get the best or most targeted critique here as you would with communities targeted to budding creators. Please, don't do kickstarter..as you'll only end up splitting a few fools from their money that in-the-long run costs you more than it's worth if you don't already have a functioning product. Good things need their effort, time and a certain skill threshold in very large quantities. It doesn't stop you, no, but it may not be the most efficient use of your time. It's really delusions of grandeur, and those delusions will sink you like 90% of the budding mod-makers out there who fail and consequently give up. If we want to get literal...anything you create with a 'student' version would eventually need to be recreated in a 'commercial' version if you produce a product. 2. It's great that you want to learn, but focus on actually learning. You should study 3DS Max so intensively that any thoughts about a game you want to make would be useless. As it should be. If the game is important to you at all, you will stop 'idea development' and start skill development. If you have ideas along the way, jot them down, but focusing on becoming a skilled developer and not what you want to do if you become one.
  9. 80 players has nothing to do with forcing an 'organized' team. In the OP's mind that simply means 20 more players that a going to go and zerg-rush the enemy base, fail, and try it again. In many player's mind it's simply not 'fun' to sit in the base for most of the match repairing, checking mines, re-mining, or even paroling with a vehicle while that vehicle could be the straw that broke the defense at the opposing team's base. Organizations understand this and allow for strategies where defenders rotate to offense. The OP simply wants more organized teams...if anything throwing more n00bs into the mix will be even more like herding cats. Either you join an organization that understands tactics or you wait for the playerbase to mature from 'ZOMG MAMMOTH TANKS I WANT ONE' to 'Don't buy mammoths...gives Nod too many points'. I think this has to be a portion of it. Really, I see the OP's post as 'Imma so mad that I do everything. I'mma gunna write a message blaming the devs and ragequit'.'
  10. Prop looks good. I like the map, and can't wait to see what you do with it. I hope that it doesn't get filed into the 'lost interest due to laziness' bucket in a week. Let us know what we can do the help you keep on it!
  11. Unless they're like the OP and get frustrated that they're constantly losing. OP's already stated that he's lost interest because apparently unorganized public matches are actually unorganized and public? Shit happens, yes, the OP is being hyperbolic.
  12. Or they'll move on like the OP...
  13. Most pickup basketball games I've played lacked defense because some want to play zone, some want to play man, some want to play 'follow the ball' and the one really slow fat guy just hangs at the other end. There's also the guy who yells 'FOUL' after everything. You want a more organized game then you have to join an organization. If you don't like it, then go play something else.
  14. Considering the whole point of RenegadeX was to bring the visuals of Renegade into the modern era with only a small number of gameplay tweaks, I'm not sure what leg you have to stand on in your argument. I only get "Game is bad 'cause my computer is bad'.
  15. Obligatory reference to: Why Your Game Idea Sucks http://www.escapistmagazine.com/article ... Idea-Sucks A) Partnership with Totem Arts at this point would be silly for them...unless you're going to be paying them. -A1) Why would they support you? -A2) It's silly to offer your 'skills' for RenegadeX when you could apply those skills to your game. -A3) So you pirated 3DS Max and followed some tutorials....sorry, but that doesn't really make you qualified. B) Story != mechanics. Sorry, game design is NOT like movie pitches; no one gives two cents about the story until you have a design document I know I'm sounding brash, but if you even want to dare to ask for 'help', then anyone potentially interested needs to be able to weed out the dud fad projects from the diamonds in the rough. Better make sure you have a thick skin. If you want to make a game, go for it, but start small until you can prove to yourself that you can either take on the majority of the development yourself or finance it. You've already stepped on the rakes that numerous other people have done while trying to make a mod/tc/game for me to question your research, vision, and leadership. RenegadeX had several iterations and has been around since 2007. That's a very serious time sink, and that's including that some of the devs already had several years of experience in modding at an award-winning level. Most people seemingly think that if you can dream your game, you'll magically poop it out in a week. It doesn't work like that.
  16. No it shouldn't. Sorry, but your crusade to elimiate the engineer class just because you don't like their purpose is fruitless. Just say 'My idea was stupid'. Please. It's not an issue...you just think it's one because you don't like it.
  17. Is this a bug or a feature? If I buy an airstrike or a SW beacon, and then decide I want to change my character (let's say from an engie to a SBH or to a Hottie), I lose the beacon AND the credits. Something really should be done about this. If it's a bug, FIX IT. If it's an intentional design feature, GIVE ME A FKING PROMPT. Seriously, let me know that I'm about to lose a beacon that SHOULD be transferable to any character I buy as long as I don't die.
  18. Sorry, but adding a repair cost would break the game..though it would end stalemates. With your 'fix', the game then becomes a race to destroy the Ref. After taking down Ref it would be inevitable to starve out the opponent. There would be zero opportunities for comeback. You are literally castrating defensive opportunities. Personally, if Renegade X made your change, I'd leave games as soon as my team's ref got destroyed and probably stop playing RenX all-together soon after. In all but a few maps, you can camp and pot-shot the Ref with Arty/MLRS (which mind you have infinite ammo) and be relatively safe from base defenses. And to be frank, of the 50 or so games I've played only a handful ever managed to stalemate with no buildings down...most being on Field. It's rare and was rare coming from Renegade. The only way I can see this working is if you also made the other side pay. Pay for infantry refills, limit vehicle ammo and make players pay to resupply their vehicles. You would also have to redesign the maps.
