  1. Well, the Spy class worked nicely for Red Alert: A Path Beyond and he couldn't really do much aside from dropping A-Bomb Signal Flares. It would be nice if GDI has a Spy class that had nothing more than his sidearm for self-defense. Sure, it probably won't happen, but it's a thought.
  2. If they want to keep things simple, they can always implement the commander mode from Battlefield 2. He could basically see the whole battlefield from a top-down perspective and point out enemy targets. I can see it working for Renegade X but it might be a bit OP for Nod as they can spot Hotwires running in, but GDI's can't see SBHs. Of course, it eventually boils down to teamwork because warnings won't work if no one listens.
  3. They can always implement an option where you can buy back buildings for a exuberant price - ie. 50k apiece. That should give an incentive for donators. Hopefully.

As someone who is a devoted defender of all buildings (can't recall how many times I've saved buildings from certain destruction or how I was the only miner) mines are a pivotal role in defending any base (especially walls flying!) but you also have to rely on your basic instincts. I'll use walls flying as a bare example. First thing is to always keep an eye on the mine counter. If there is a substantial drop of them (4-5) then it's time to alert the team and make some routine patrols. When it comes to base patrol, I usually do so as a sniper as I can scope out areas (and hopefully shoot down mine defusers/beacon planters should I come across any). There's been many times where I've seen Hotwires hiding underneath the stairs of the HoN or Air and no one notices. The strategy as GDI is substantially different, as you'll need your team to cooperate with you. But the strategy remains - you MUST mine the WF ramp once you can afford a Hotwire. If you don't, you'll pay with SBH nukes. If the mines are gone, go check it out, and hopefully scare the SBH away (if there is one). Remine whenever possible. I've had many cases where I was busily repairing buildings and I've heard them blowing up and kills racked in while our base was under siege, due to engies/techs/Hotwires running in and trying to get a quick C4 down. A few mines can mean a saved building vs. a smoking and nonfunctional one. Repairing may seem like a thankless job, but it gives good points. While it's certainly not as glamorous as destroying the enemy base (I've seen players who blow up entire bases get praised upon while those who singlehandedly save buildings are completely unnoticed) your team would be on the losing end, even if they don't thank you for it. Or you can be a complete ass and let the building fall, but I don't recommend this... If you see a teammate in the distance acting out in the open suspiciously, point them out. Be warned if don't see his/her nametag, because he/she's a spy.
  5. And this is something that I realy dislike. The game should detect whether or not some GFX features are mandatory or not. If a GFX driver does not support certain gamebreaking features, it shouldnt be able to start. OR the game should be coded differently so the stealth is handled differently. What if cheaters purposely trying to find out the exact malfunction to "disable" stealth effects, or atleast make them visible as if they are on your team. The way I see stealth being handled atm is as a GFX setting. The client game detects a mesh which does not show unless in close proximity. Code it to max that distance and voila, it's vissible throughout the map, even when on GDI. Better yet, just downgrade your GFX to the version at which is not supported and there is "no cheat" at play, just a "bug". I feel this should be changed To be honest, I don't know how the glitch came to be. I got a clean reinstall (old hard drive was screwed and had to get a new one) of RenX, started the game, and somehow noticed the exploit. Didn't realize that the graphics driver was an issue until I came here. I didn't bother to upgrade my drivers on the bad HD because it made my screen flicker, though I suspect that my old hard drive's problem might've been the culprit.
  6. The original did have its issues, but it was considered bad because it had to compete with higher-end games, such as Battlefield 1942. Then, you can't blame Westwood for having to develop it and rush it into markets within 8 months...
  7. Be sure to select the High Performance NVIDIA Processor from the Manage 3D settings. My Asus X550L runs like a charm on it, though it does have some hiccups every now and then.
  8. It is a confirmed graphics driver issue. I just updated my NVIDIA Graphics Driver and the glitch is gone. Even though it's one hell of an exploit, I feel really bad for keeping it around.
  9. I have encountered this glitch too. I'll try updating my driver to see if it'll go away.
  10. There isn't supposed to be one. Just like how Nod has no counterpart to the Mammoth tank. Mammoths were never an issue for a competent Nod team. Well, at least in Beta 2. But SBHs means that GDI will always have to play defensively on non-base defense maps. Nod has to also, but not too much to the point where they have to constantly shoot every corner in vain hopes of catching one. I can't recall how much games I've lost in pre-Beta 3 because SBHs were borderline impossible to detect...
  11. You want weak? Try the Nod autorifle from old Ren. The autorifle in this game is very useful, and there are times where I wish it was an optional sidearm (as the carbine nerf means that I rarely see people using it anymore).
  12. Sorta joined late here (2005-2006) as I didn't get my own PC until I entered high school. But since I have familiarized myself with most of the advanced tactics that make or break the win, I suppose that counts...I guess?
  13. I dunno, I preferred the TibDawn Chem Warrior (black suit with green shades) because the current one looks like a Transformer of some kind. Still a cool skin though. AFAIK, Beta 1/2 Marksman Rifle had travel time. This meant you had to lead your targets.
  14. No crashes is always a nice addition. Seeing the new models for the Black Hand Sniper, Black Hand Heavy Weapons Soldier, and Chem Warrior was a fresh feel too, as the old skins for them was sorta stale. Volcano looks amazing too. Too bad we can't go for a dip in the lava, haha. Also, was the Marksman Rifle buffed? I noticed that the bullet no longer had a significant travel time, which was an issue for it in Beta 1/2. That really diminished its usefulness compared to the other instant-hit sniper rifles.
  15. Ah, so that's why the old launcher didn't work. Was it discontinued in favor of the new one?
