  1. this is one of 2 things i never quite understood why they are not base line in the game. helipad makes so much sense on flying maps. more strategy and possibilities should WF / air go down. the other thing i always wanted to see in renegade was a buyable recon bike (default on every map - not just as a mod or a gimmick from crates or on certain maps). it was a base vehicle in original tiberian dawn.... but oh well... that's another story...
  2. Hello guys, long time Renegade & RenX player here. Since the release of C&C Remaster we had a big influx of new players, which is generally great for this community and this game. One thing i noticed though is that a lot of the new players are quite toxic and more often than not this toxicity gets amplified by such things as the !noob command. RenX kinda has a team oriented gameplay and like most team oriented multiplayer games a lot of toxicity is expected. I don't think we can change that. But i think we can limit the negativity that goes through the ingame chat by limiting or flat out removing the !noob command. I know the !rec and !noob commands have a long history in C&C Renegade Multiplayer Servers. I still think the !rec command alone would be enough... The !noob command just always creates discussions and toxicity ingame while the !rec command never does that. I don't want to read all that toxicity ingame just because someone !noob'ed someone else. Most of the time both players are quite new to the game and thus noobs themselves, which lets the bickering over it seem even more pathetic. Also the reason someone !noob's someone else sometimes are so ridiculous as like "you healed the other player and not me and i'm clearly more important than that other player". We could limit the usage of the !noob command to players that have at least a certain amount of playtime or a number of !rec's, but to stop toxicity i would just remove the command and keep growing a healthy and mostly happy community. The command just feeds the negative people in the community and does nothing good for the rest... Please vote and share your reasoning. Thanks

  9. we all had lags, so it definitely wasn't a issue on your side... seems more like a memory leak since it just started after 1h and only in tanks... could also be a serverside issue... also snow, you don't need good ping to AFK shoot the inf path all game 😝
  10. holy shit can we add these recon bikes to the standard tanks of nod? i mean they were there in tiberium dawn... they also could spice things up for the normal mode of the game i never understood why renegade didn't add them in the first place... also i couldn't make it, but i can't wait for a public release of Nod vs Black Hand the idea of making specialized factions (like in C&C Generals ZH) is also not bad... would certainly be fun to play

  12. what a teaser... here my guess: It's "CnC Red Alert - A Path Beyond X" since red alert had an expansion called the aftermath and the "a path beyond" renegade mod contains all the additions from aftermath

  15. so... as soon as we know which maps we want to play, can i suggest someone creates a zip file with all maps we will play that day? so we don't have map version mismatches... i would like to test paradise without gimmicks... that map is really beautiful ^^ would like to see it live one day ^^ Nod only maps also could be fun ^^ let's test them
  16. Pruning sounds good. The suggested layout would work for me, but there also have been some good suggestions in this thread... like letting people choose the layout. All inaccurate radio commands ("Attack that building") are not useful without the building. With the spotting (where it actually writes the building in chat) it's great. I would keep the "I'm in position". I use that to respond to chat often like "someone needs to remine". "Destroy it now" should be removed... i see no use... because if i'm defending and see 5 afk-engis repping a MCT i use the "Destroy that vehicle!". Why not put a few of the pruned radio commands into taunt menus? Just for fun! I can see the chem or flamer say "Watch where you're pointing that" 1: Watch where you're pointing that! 2: Don't get in my way! 1: Take the point. 2: Take cover. Similarly a few precise radio commands ("Attack the base defenses") could be added to the commander menu... Just an idea though...

    y'all shouldn't be that negative ^^ the new HUD was a long necessary change from a technical point of view and it's good that you are working on it... of course there is gonna be criticism, but as long as it's constructive criticism all is good. just take it as a source of inspiration and ideas... in the end it's not like the HUD is bad or anything... there are just some ideas und suggestions for improvement ^^ and there will always be toxic people who aren't capable of constructive criticism... just ignore those... and to nexus: thank you for your hard work on the maps and take the time off you need. this is a passion project so work on it when you feel like it. and regarding the custom map issue: how about we play the new maps on PUGs once in a while... like only 1 new map per evening? people could download the maps in advance... and the people who do not want to download a map just wait for the next round... i think people who play PUGs are better organized and more helpful than random crowds on public servers...

  19. there are 2 types of servers: Marathon (play until one side loses completely - in this case points don't matter) AOW (all out war) or just normal servers without description (play with a timelimit - the side with more points at the end wins) of course points are still used to determine how much players contributed to the team... Hmmm... There were some guides here and there, but since i never needed them i can't point you to a good one... maybe someone else on here can answer you that question better ^^ yosh posted a guide some time ago: not sure if it is a good guide for beginners ^^ maybe just learn by playing ^^ and ask for advice here and there... you could also join PUGs (pick up games - organized plays) every SATURDAY at 11am PST... if you listen to what your commander says you can learn a lot... you have to join the Renegade X Discord (https://discordapp.com/invite/renegadex) to participate ^^
  20. other for: keep radio messages + chat on the same box, since i often use radio commands to respond to chat. maybe filter spam more? right now it already filters spam from the same players (when i spott the same thing it shows just once but makes it bigger). i think the spam filter should not just filter on a per-player-base, but also on a team base. e.g. if everyone spotts the same tank / building or gives the same radio command, just make it bigger or add a counter how many said that instead of showing the spam from 32 team mates. if position or building health percentage change just update the original line (and obviously keep it on the screen longer). kill feed can stay where it is, but in 64 player games it's just spam... could maybe also be removed entirely. maybe integrate it into the TAB menu (skull-symbol or grey out for each player that currently is dead). get rid of the K menu and instead make a hotkey for the donation menu (so we can quickly look how much money the players have). Money, Mines, Tanks, CP and Time should be back in the bottom center of the screen as i look at those all the time. Number of Players and team points are irrelevant and should stay in the TAB menu. Remove from the middle of the screen. player points and rank are also quite useless imho... i can look that up in the TAB menu... so i would suggest to remove them from the top right corner...

  22. couldn't we just 3d print them nowadays? i'm sure that would cost way less than buying the originals... also you could use the ren x models (more detailed)
  23. i think the small autoheal mentioned in the april joke would fit renegade... not on every map of course... smaller maps don't need a CYard... bigger maps where base buildings are more spread around a CYard would help, so you don't need a humvee just to rep a few buildings back to full. you could also make some CP (generation or max storage) or some of the commander abilities depended from the CYard... C&C Generals Style but now that i think about it... in terms of renegade that probably would be more like the communication center... anyway i like all those Tiberian Dawn buildings and loved to see them in renegade... remember the mission where you could destory an entire base of nod? i loved that one! would like to see more buildings added to ren... even if not every building is good for every map... For functionality of the buildings there would be enough ideas... like making the nuke depended of the temple of nod
