FWIW, I think Renegade in a sense shouldn't be 64 players just because it can technically ; the original maps just weren't, IMHO, designed for that kind of volume - it makes any kind of sneak attack almost always fail. I for one would appreciate seeing a 40 cap period. Perhaps even 16 on 16 tops.
  2. It wouldn't be renegade without 'em that's for sure. Interesting how I read that the stealth effects are... well, more stealth now. I always figured the slight way you could spot a stealth tank/infantry was intentional... What's the answer on how the obelisk (in particular, but also the guard tower) react? I always felt it was glitchy/lag stuff that allowed you to evade the obelisk a bit (and I had NO idea about the backwards walking glitch! and I played a ton!!)... is that just now gone; obelisk, if it has a single target will never miss? or does it retain that somewhat avoidable aspect?
  3. about 1. in old renegade you always autojoined 1 side and could not change. once you got used to it, it does not matter ... specially if you become a regular on 1 or 2 servers, cuz you know the most other players ... then you always play with and against some friends later on it was modded, so you could offer a "switch team" to the public, but you needed someone else to accept it and switch with you ... that would be a good idea, but only if it is limited to the first 2-5 minutes hope it is like this in RenegadeX about 2. in original it was like this ... i believe it will be like that in RenegadeX -- I know I am not DEV or tester ... but just in case i thought i give you the idea of how it was in original Just to "+1" - I loved being able to control playing WITH my friends of course (similar to most multiplayer games today being able to form a party and play as a combined party)... and in renegade, sure you could call this cheating a tiny bit but we took advantage of the autojoin-back-to-your-team feature... One would join. Say he was GDI. Any new joins always went to smallest team, so timing it right I would disconnect, let my friend get into my "slot" as GDI... then I could rejoin, always GDI since it looked like a reconnect. Of course I don't actually want the glitch... I just want the ability to be able to "join as a party"; is that in the net code/interface either as the original algorithm or as a feature?
  4. THANK YOU!!!! AWESOME!!!! I mean. Wow. I could sit here for hours telling stories about the hours and the fun playing this game. I knew there were ways to still play some renegade, some mods or something, some servers around... but never bothered... and then suddenly I take a peek and I find out that basically the game is essentially being re-released!? Oh. My. god!!!!! I am SO glad the original radio voices are in. That the "doink" sound is still there. I am SO glad to see the important stuff is all there - it is the Renegade we all loved, that I think even by today's standard is immensely unique. That the original maps are pretty much there. That the graphics are up to date. As many have said, TAKE MY MONEY!!! Ok, I do have a real question - are stealth tank rushes (in particular,and some of the other ones) left exactly as they were, which was pretty much borderline a bit of crap (yet always fun)... or have these been tamed in some way? I always wondered if some of that worked out due to lag, which nowadays I imagine has been changed?
