  1. I'm very happy to hear that. I thought I've read some time ago on Jelly forums they'll take their time with that, but you know better than I.
  2. I don't think Jelly is planning to host any RenX server for the period close to RenX release. They don't have the money for it.
  3. I'm sure it's a standard procedure to send the setup file to pre-arranged mirrors and servers few days before the official release, and let all of those sources publish the file at the same time. Can use torrents as well. You should be worried whether there will be enough dedicated game servers to play in..
  4. That's up to each server owner to decide, as he/she pays the bill. Same as the first years of original Renegade (up to 5 years or so), I'm sure there will be plenty of servers with different game modes, and you'll be able to find at least one server you would like to play. I personally prefer marathon games, and servers with few specific modes, like weapon drops (when done properly, meaning no ramjet and timed c4s to SBHs) and the upgraded crate system (jelly marathon server for example). You really can't tell me my preference is less legit than yours. And if you don't like any of the servers, than by all means, rent up a server of your own. There isn't a global-ladder anyway, don't see why it should bother you whether people play one gamemode or another., doesn't affect any of you..
  5. Call me a noob if you want, but I'm playing Renegade since 2002, and discovered the free-aim only 2 weeks ago. I've always used the lock camera to vehicle turret option. When I'm trying to play with free-aim, don't think it's very useful. I've managed to play without it for 12 years and have never thought I've been missing something anyway.
  6. As much as I know, Steam don't accept any games without some kind of a paying model. At least I've never seen or heard about any free game available on Steam. Valve has nothing to profit from that (and I'm sure do not blame them for not sharing their platform for free).
  7. Most of the ideas are pretty good. I think most of them should be implemented to the game, but let the server admin decide which he would want to activate for his server (and when). For example, no base repair might be a good idea for AoW server, but perhaps too harsh for marathon. As some of you have already said, the SD mode should be switched on fluently, so no teleports or "restarting" the game in any way. Also, it can not change the gameplay itself, like no-respawns. Another thing should be considered is the ease of implementing the different ideas. Switching everyone to Sydneys/Ravies seems more complicated to me than turning off base-power or disabling repairs. But that's up to the developers of course.
