    Life Advice?

Internet is okay.. Whatever you feel is the most effective, but feel free to explore the alternatives. In my personal experiances, 'Psychologists' help you talk about your probleme, they help you set the first step. But like you said before you're an open guy, and it wasn't a probleme. But Psychologists aren't substitutes for a person who care about you or people who've shared your experiances.(mainly because they get a fat paycheck in the end of the month). I would definatly recommend group therapy, therapy sounds like such an institutional word, like you're mentaly ill, but make no mistake , if you are willing to help yourself. Then nothing is too exaggerated and it shouldn't mather at what caliber you help yourself. If you are afraid to go to such a thing, bring a friend (even if he doesn't share your probleme, having a wingman is always nice to moral) @maty: like I said before, you need to get things done. Escapism is a nice comfort , but you need to keep in mind that it's only temporary. Weither it be the examples given by maty or "Psychofarma", I've had my experiances with benzodiazepin (diazepin group; a common anti-anxiety / depressive pill) valium is a well-known type of this kind, but there are many sorts ,shapes and names. The only thing they all have in common, is that they are highly adictive. They make your cells dependant on these chemicals and you'll start to feel it, when you go long periodes without. But everybody has his own adictions, weither it be watching tv series, playing videogames, work, eating excessively, watching porn, smoking, drinking ect. Point is everybody has an adiction and procrastination is a normal thing (its not unusual to procrastinate), some are progressive (like working out), some aren't (eating excessively). => well really depends, too much of anything can turn out to be bad really.. Find a balance in life. Anyway, I don't want to be anal about this by telling you what not and what to use/do, eventualy it comes down to your own decisions a1h. I don't want to give you 1 extra thing to make you worry about, but just keep this in the back of your mind. Trust me when I say , you don't want an anti-depressant adiction. Just remember that the alternatives are many. For example find out what you've always wanted to do, and do it. (like starting to play guitar, or archery just to name a few)

    Life Advice?

I'm sorry to say this. But there are some really stupid advices in this topic. "Shit Happens?" It's the guy's life we're talking about.. and all you could come up with was 'Shit happens' ? ..and even if it's meant in a sarcastic way , cliché ... really. Really Cliché. Yes shit does happen, but it also doesn't. I'm a postmodernistic guy, and life REALLY doesn't devide itself into black and white segments, it's way too complex to be just that. Same goes to what she said "It's all your fault" => (cfr. see below) Anyway there are a few replies that took my attention. Respectfully Demigan's and Asgaroth's advice.. - Demigan has a very good point.: Focus. And think about the thing you still have, even how cynical it may seem. - Asgaroth: Move on. Obviously it hasn't taken that much for her to move on. So the more reason for you to live your life, evolved. I know these are some very abstract concepts, especialy coming from people who don't know you in person/ or don't share the same life you have. But fact remains, some people here have never had something close to this. So quit giving lousy advice if you don't know how to. (no offence, but I have to be frank) My experiance with problemes(indiscriminate from which probleme or how huge the issue is) , is no mather how good your relationship is with a friend, if that friend has never experianced the same issue you're facing with right now. It's very likely that they cannot in any way understand what you are going through. So no point in having him/her give you advice, they wouldn't know how to. Friends can be a GREAT comfort (that is if you need comfort) but if you need advice from them then you can't blaim them for not being able to understand. Don't get me wrong, it's important to talk about your probleme, (very important actualy) the first step is accepting you HAVE an issue. But I think it would be best (and I wouldn't be the first ofcourse) to advice you to seek out groups or individuals who DO share this similar issue you are facing right now. - Anyway what I would like contribute is this: See my reference (see top) => "It's all your fault" All I have to say is that: Ofcourse it can't be all your fault, that's not possible. But that doesn't neccecarily mean that it's not And it doesn't mean it's her fault either. (not picking your wife's side, this is coming from a neutral POV). Maybe somewhere allong the way ,the both of you lost sight. You may have payed the bills, but perhaps you drove her away from you. Like Asgaroth mentioned. Move on, with whatever's practicle for you (you don't need to move to another country, if you can't afford it) but whatever helps out, even the little things and details, like ur ex-wife's pictures are out of the room, getting her stuff out of your way; just to mention a few. If it's not there, then that's one thing less to ponder about. - The important thing is to get things DONE. You can think ALL day on what to do and what to worry about. There are always new worries. But you need to get things done. Things won't change, if you don't want them to change and ofcourse AND again if you don't get things done. "Live big, dream small" => you may have big dreams, but they will remain ONLY dreams if you don't do anything about them. It's 'Okay' to dream - to hope - to plan. But these concepts are just 'those' concepts if you don't live these things out. So really a1h, live your life, do the things you want to do, enjoy life again. Revenge is a fun thing, but don't let that get in the way and 'Move on'. Last but not least, don't let your relationship with your son, and ex wife turn out into a war about "who loves your child more" by buying more stuff -> materialistic ofcourse. Even at a young age, kids can sence that. Don't underestimate that. And if you're genuine enough, you'll kid will learn to accept what has happend and will appreciate you more when he gets older.
  6. QUOTE (R315r4z0r @ Mar 12 2009, 01:42 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> well an actual button for the lock and bind sequance would really be usefull instead of typing all that crap on the screen.
  7. QUOTE (CrazyAndy @ Mar 5 2009, 04:52 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Well I have to agree that some units are not used allot. But that doesn't necessarily mean that those units are useless. Some of them are quite usefull if you know how to use them in the right way. For example, the power of a Laser chaingun rush is really underrated and not used frequently enough, however if you get 5 or more, it will litterally melt your enemy's tank away in seconds , it's effective against infantry and buildings too. Or a chem Rush. Which can take your enemy off by suprise if you can organise it that well. (just to name a few) I'dd love to see more diversity of units on the field, maybe by making them more vital to posts on the team. By keeping a "Rock, Paper, Scissors"- mantra. Both 'Infantry vs Infantry wise', and 'Infantry vs Vehicle vs Aircraft wise' like ... > [ infantry > -vehicle >( aircraft ] > Infantry- > vehicle ) > ... Come to think of it Renegade has it pretty well worked out, and it works self regulating. 'Infantry vs Vehicle vs Aircraft wise' The probleme with lack of diversity amoung units lies primairily with the Infantry class. 'Infantry vs Infantry wise' Possible solution: Perhaps you could make the 'useless' units have diffrent benifits, like making them more agile or run faster, so they don't get shot down that easily from far away by a sniper. The colour of the units play a vital role too. It's not for nothing that they chose stealth units to be 'Red' when uncloacked the colour red is the most noticeable to the naked eye. (cfr. traffic lights and car break lights in the rear) And ofcourse the weapon of the units. Other units like the Chem sprayer, have a BIG red head and a VERY visible Green outfit, which is sad because the Chem spray weapon is pretty usefull. Lots of people don't pick this unit because the outfit of the unit litteraly makes it a walking claypidgeon. Maybe by making some units run faster, less visible in therms of colour, or other benifits they might get used more often. No Airstrip and Ref, makes these low cost units almost a desperate last chance. Perhaps you could make add the option that if a team loses their Vehicle building, the infantry gets an aditional option like chem suits (walking over tiberium capabilty, haha might be a nice option for a the crates instead) ,faster units, Units inspired by dedication (making the game not over, just because you don't have a Weaps/airstr anymore). But what IS noticable that is when a team does lose a building, they sometimes tend to work together much more harder than before (teamwork wise). OR they just lose all hope, and fuck around untill the game is over. So maybe the infantry enhancement thing is not such a great idea. But there is a major diffrence between normal AOW's and Marathon matches when it comes to strategy. I remember some Marathon matches taking AGES, because the team who lost a building had no way of really getting back, or turning the tide of the game, especialy on maps with base defence. In conclusion, - Allot of things in Renegade are ballanced in the way that each team almost has a 50% chance of winning , taking in acount that each team has equaly skilled members. And Renegade works self regulating. (Normal maps) - With the vehicles. I feel the flying coffin' is not used enough. (I don't have a probleme with the Humvee) The Coffin': Basicly it costs allot, it easily gets you killed (and your team , hence the coffin' and transportation of others doesn't reep any individual rewards. In battlefield 2. Transporting others , gave you the necessary hours you needed for your flying badge. Comparing BF2 with Ren is like comparing apples with bananas. without a doubt, but I'm making a point. Point is that in Battlefield 2, It IS stimulating you to fly a transportation because it doesn't limit itself to benifit the team alone. It benifits YOU too, weither you are winning or not. Okay, in Renegade, you could transport your teammembers to the middle of the mountain or whatever. Transporting others may help you win the game, but it doesn't change the fact that you'll be way down in the scoreboard unless you make it into your enemy's base with your chinook and blow up a building or something, but let's be real here, that hardly happens. (in a rational thinking, full server) Repairing the base however, gives you both benefits (individual and team), so why shouldn't transportation have the same effect? IF you want to stimulate people to use more chinooks in the game, give them something they can benifit off INDIVIDUALY. (points, money, a thankyou note on the scoreboard, ect..). - But you cannot ignore the fact that people DO tend to use the same units in the game. Especialy with Infantry (obviously , because there is allot more diversity in the infantry class than there is with vehicles.) - I think the main concern is probably how to use the "Rock, Paper, Scissors"- mantra while keeping things Balanced if changes are planned to be made. - Allot of things are obviously also depending on skill of the players and the type of game you are playing (AOW, Mara) But in theory, if you have equaly skilled players, and they both take a diffrent class, should one class have a diffrent benifit over the other? PS: I'm still figuring out the "Rock, Paper, Scissors"- mantra for 'Infantry vs Infantry wise' Snipers Splash damage infantry (with lasting effects, close and long range) Automatic rifles (high speed, and regular) > Auto rifles > *Anyone help?
  8. the only reason, why someone doesn't like glacier is because you haven't played it enough to know it's possibilities. A sneaker's paradise, it gives you ALLOT more possibilities than other standart maps (even if you're GDI). It's worth remaking.
  9. If the Anti Air improves by locking, will the capabilities of the Aircraft also increase? Like higher speed or better maneuvers to dodge?
  10. Are the missles 100% guided when locked? I know on Renegade it was only limited and hard to use, it should have better lock for Anti air capabilities.
  11. oh that's actualy quite a nice idea if it hasn't been done yet. I read something about being 150 million users on there!
