Update! I purchased the laptop with the ryzen 3 processor, vega onboard graphics and 8 GB of RAM Renegade is running very nicely on all high settings! Haven't tried the extra high yet.

Hardware used to make alot more sense back in the pentium single core days haha and alot of computers sound great until you use them. So it says base clock 2.5Ghz, 3.4Ghz boost clock (overclock?) In the price range that I'm looking in, I can't seem to find much higher in clock speed, just more cores. I may be expecting too much from a mid level lap top lol

Not sure if general is the right place to put this but here goes. I have always played renegade on my desktop computer witj a gt1030 but I'll be doing alot of travelling this year and I need a laptop that will at least decently handle renegade x (this is the only graphic heavy game that I care to run). I don't want to buy a gaming laptop, so I was wondering if anyone has had any luck running it on maybe a Radeon r5 or r7? Or if there is another onboard that can run the game at a decent level?

I have the decade collection that stopped at zero hour. That's where I stopped too haha I bought c&c 3 but didn't get into it. Maybe I should give it another shot. The only great thing EA really did was create renegade

After I made my post I started reading other treads to get an idea of why everyone hates this game so much. I definitely understand the hatred toward EA, they literally destroyed Westwood. For me I guess c&c died after renegade. I didn't get into c&c3 or anything that followed. Kind of lost the aspects I loved about the previous games, kind of like StarCraft 2 and age of empires 3. As a more casual gamer now, I see the benefits of mobile games even if most of them are cash grabs. Perhaps this would have went down better if the mobile game was release along side a full new PC game? I honestly didn't realize it was such a hot topic or I wouldn't have posted anything positive about it at all haha

But also at the moment you cannot spend any real money so the matches are pretty even

I'm playing the rivals pre-alpha and it's actually a pretty fun game. I do however wish the units were from the c&c 95 era but it's pretty decent either way

Is there any way to download the launcher file and install it without going through the launcher? It still wont update. It wasn't an issue before, I could just ignore the pop up and continue playing, but now I am getting errors for version mismatch. Is my only option to uninstall the entire game and reinstall it?

I can download the update to 0.82, then it says to click "close" to update and restart. I then give it permission to update the launcher but nothing happens Anyone else having this problem?

I think the c&c mode is great, I'm not sure if it's ever been mentioned but how about a mode where the idea is to take over the enemy base and not destroy it? With each building your side would have access to the enemy troops, tanks, additional harvester, etc. One of the best parts of c&c 95 was taking over buildings with engineers!

One of the modded map servers allow you to only rebuild turrets which was pretty neat! Perhaps allowing the commander to place and build additional light defences would be possible?

I was wondering if the "auto balance" was simply keeping the numbers of players equal on each side. It would maybe be more balanced if the server used player stats from the leaderboard to balance the teams?

You guys nailed it! I love this game! It was really disappointing when everyone stopped playing renegade years ago and GameSpy eventually went down but It's nice to be playing online again and it's great to see so many people keeping renegade alive!
