  1. What are the times for testing? more towards the weekend and when does the process start. I'd apply immediately but unfortunately soon for me a time is coming where I can't be 100% sure to find the time for testing. Too bad this didn't start a couple of month earlier, I could have tested for you almost 24/7 in the last couple of month.
  2. First I have to congratulate you on the subtlety of the design. A job well done. Second: How about a feature that suggests the cued up people to collectively join a new server? Maybe when the cue reaches a certain number of possible players - 10 to 15 or maybe even 20. IIRC @roweboat suggested something like this a while ago? Am I right boat?
  3. Hey guys and gals! I posted this on the discord but it might get lost there - so... Hey guys! Now that you are porting FS to UE5 I am curious about a few things relating to how you treat, translate or even enhance the 3D-Art and how that works out in practice. A good chance to get a little insight into how UE5 behaves - away from the hype-train on YT. 😉 @NodSaibot briefly answered a few things - thanks for that - but maybe the 3D-Artists can give a deeper insight. And sorry If i get a few things wrong or if they seem confusing. I do 3D and Modeling as a Motion-Designer but I know little about Game-Dev/Engines itself. 1. Nanite and it's impact on 3D-Resources Nanite was heavily advertised and with all things Internet I am a little sceptic about how that works out in practice. As I understand it Nanite handles environment "so well" that it frees up resources and you get a better draw-call budget. Is that right? If so: Does it free up so much that you can up poly-counts on models or give them higher resolution textures throughout? 2. "Re-Mastering" 3D Assets for UE5 Did the situation occur that you said to yourselves: "Well, we got more possibilities in implementing 3D-Art so we can up the quality!" What I mean by that is: Do you for example re-create props with higher a higher Poly-Count or just export them "less optimized"? 3. Lumen and it's GI I've seen a few examples and UE5's new lighting-engine personally strikes me as the most impressive feature. I just love good lighting. 🙂 How does lumen behave in practice? Does it feel more natural to work with or is it "just" and enhancment in lighting quality. 4. PBR-workflow FS was initially made with UE3 afaik. IIRC UE3 uses a Base/Spec/Gloss workflow and UE5 deffo uses Base/Rough/Metal. I don't know what you used for texturing (Subs Painter I guess). How do you handle the transition? If you did the textures with Painter, do you just export/convert them to the new workflow? How does it work for you? Are there any textures you might redo now - for different reasons? 5. Poly/Pixel If it's true that UE5 gives more performance would you rather use it on upping the Polys on a model or use higher resolution normal maps? Bye, Rover
  4. Hey guys and gals! RenX is going through some rough times currently, but I don't want to waste my words on the current state of things. I just want to do a positive shout-out to the people who develop the game and to the community as a whole. If memory serves me right I first played RenX somewhen in 2015 - I think it was winter. It was definitely Beta3. Since then I've spent countless hours on the game and RenX is only one of two games I still play on a regular basis. Never before have I stayed with a game for such a long time and never before have I felt that I became good at a game and be somewhat embedded into a community. It gives me a sense of achievement. So what is so special about this that I tell you about it? In these 6 years many things have happened in my life. I changed jobs twice, an important relationship broke up, I had to move away from my home unwillingly and suffer(ed) from it, had a fucking burnout, had a generally rough year, got half burnout again and only recently I kind of made peace with a couple of things and feel better overall. I don't want to turn this into a therapy session but I find it kind of impressive that RenX and the community stayed with me all this time. It's not like RenX saved my life or something BUT it always gives me a good time and while I play the game I completely forget the world around me and a little weight is taken of my shoulders. RenX is my little fun-time-go-to-game. Even if I can't do anything else I can boot up my PC and meet some people I can have fun with even tough it's just virtually. So, to all the people who invest time, money, energy and passion into RenX while living their own real-lifes: Keep going. At least for me you are doing a marvellous job and have a small but important impact on my life. Thanks. ❤️
  5. Maybe Kane took over the Krone?
  6. I remember that in 2015 one evening I decided I'd like to try out team-shooters but wasn't willing to spend money on a genre that I had no idea about whether I'd like it or not. So I was looking for Free to play alternatives. I can't remember how I got aware of RenX but I do remember my first thought that it looked mighty cool and the C&C universe pulled me in. I am in no way a religious follower of the franchise but back in the 90s it introduced me to more sophisticated gameplay. RA1 was the first game that I actually bought. Before that I only played games us boys would copy for each other on floppy disks. Oh the sweet memories! RenX being fanmade and non-commercial (aka no pay-to-win) was a big one for me too. So I downloaded it. My positive first experience was what instantly got me hooked. Big time. My first game was on field. Beta 3 Field!!! I was on GDI and mostly used a Med-Tank. Believe it or not but the fact that I was at the choke point at the Nod base entrance motivated me. I could feel, that there was a certain team-dynamic and I assumed that would be a key element to the game. My team won the match, somehow we made a med rush work and Nod base was lit up. I also remember I ended up as second or third on the leaderboard and thought that I must have been useful for my team in one way or the other. Second match was Whiteout and I placed an ion at the top of the hill and after it blew up my team could establish itself on the hill. Somebody said something along the lines of "Well placed beacon, good distraction, the lul" and even though I had no idea what I was doing I felt gratification. I of course kept playing and got deeper and deeper into the game. I got to know the community and felt that many people are quite hilarious (I miss you jeffseid!). The community being small was a big factor for me because it made sure I'd always have the same "friends" I could play with regularly. Long story short: RenX pushed all the right buttons and the Team aspect was the biggest thing for me. It's the only game I ever played in which teamwork really makes or breaks the game and it's so special to me. I am proud of being around for so long already. It's five years soon. Love you all! RenX ❤️ Thx to all the devs!!!
  7. Not hitting issaugoti makes keeping files rly hard! But I am looking forward to the comparison vid. On a more serious note: I am surprised how many people feel the same about snipers. I too think they are way OP and I really can't stand how they sometimes shift balance to the team that happens to have a good sniper on board. It would be nice to at least give hotties/tech "special" armor to shield them from being such an easy pick for sak/havoc.
  8. Glad to see you are still around! ❤️ It's also great you do these newbie vids. A question is left unanswered in the video: Syd or Sak?
  9. Hoe does EA "feel" about this? Have you talked to them beforehand or do you risk it?
  10. @Nexus51325 I can totally understand how you feel. In my professional live I am a designer and know the "spirit" of destructive critisicm all too well. But at least from my experience I can tell you: If people start to hate on creative things you do it only shows you are most probably on the right track. Keep that in mind. Don't let others make you lose the faith in yourself. I like Desolation and the glimpse I had on Steppe geve me the impression that it's a good map as well. And what I loved was when I asked you if there is a story to Steppe and you told me "Yes" and said you imagine it to be one of the last remaining Temples of Nod located in Egypt after the first Tiberium-War. That shows true love. And I would bet most of the haters would fail to invest themselves in a 3D-SDK for an engine like UE3. Don't let the visceroids ruin your day.
  11. Is "clone Kaunas 9x" a valid answer?
  12. It is also great fun to raid a group of MRLS, stay under their minimum range and hide behind them or any cover and then kill them one by one. You can almost feel their panic. You can smell their fear of light tanks.
  13. C Tier Infantry offense? I wouldn't even rate myself higher than H-Tier, especially in PUGs! On a serious sidenote: Such an inofficial list based on mostly subjective views might discourage new people to join PUGs. Us regulars might like being rated - newbies surely won't that much.
  14. Like on the picture attached? I am totally into this idea.
  15. I might be of help. Usually - when I am not blowing stuff up in RenX - I am a Motion-Designer with quite some knowledge in Modeling. At least my modeling knowledge far exceeds what Motion-Designers are capable of when it comes to 3D and modeling I have no specialized education nor am I full-time modeling but I know my way around Topology farely well by now and I do speak the "language" in general. I just quickly picked some references (see attachments) but I could provide you with some extra smaller examples! Actually I am unemployed right now - at least for the next two months - (quit my job last week) and will get access to my work from my former company on wednesday. I am horrible at unwrapping and - oh- I forgot to mention I am only "native" to Cinema4D. Yea, you heard that right I know a little 3DsMax. But since exchanging OBJ would be "enough" - I guess - this shouldn't be too much of an obstacle.
  16. KK. Installed it via full build now. I "only" waited for 20mins or something so next time I'll give it a longer try. Thx for the reply anyways!
  17. Heya! Just like the last few times it's the same game all over again - unfortunately. The launcher tells me to upgrade, I of course do and it starts to download and it validates at the same time. As soon as validating hits 100% the download stops, completely. No sign of life, no matter how long i wait. It's basically not a big problem since there is the full build available but it's still annoying. But keep up the great work. Still loving RenX <3
  18. Same here. Pending and all permissions given... After using the Launcher to download maps today for the very first time RenX would not start (black screen). I uninstalled (!) an reinstalled it (via old torrent file) updated launcher, updated game = problem persists. Now i downloaded the installer BUT... pending is all I get.
